— Anos to Melheis Boran in "The Demon King's True Power" |
Venuzdonoa, the Abolisher of Reason (理滅剣ヴェヌズドノア Rimetsuken Venuzudonoa?) is the signature demon sword of Anos Voldigoad which can destroy anything that exists, including the order of the world. It is a sword that Anos rarely uses, and its existence is mostly unknown because those who witness it are permanently annihilated.[5]
Appearance[]
When Venuzdonoa is summoned, countless black runes are inscribed on Demon Castle Delsgade, which serves as a giant three-dimensional magic circle.[6] Innumerable black particles of light gather to form a shadow of a sword with no object projecting its shape. When the wielder holds out their hand, the shadow slowly rises from the ground. Once they grasp the hilt, the shadow inverts and reveals a dark longsword. The wielder can also sheathe Venuzdonoa by stabbing it into the ground, causing the sword body to disappear and leave a shadow at their feet.[7]
History
In the Mythical Age, Anos sought to end the Great War and bring peace to the world. During that time, Anos met Militia in her mission to bring peace to the world. Militia told him about her sister, whom she never met. Anos eventually confronted Sarjieldenav, the Sun of Destruction, with his army in an attempt to overthrow the order of destruction and tilt the balance of life and death in the world towards life and bring new hope. Anos met Abernyu, the Goddess of Destruction, who was tired of her role of destroying all things in creation. With a few conditions, she allowed Anos to twist the order of destruction into the Demon Castle Delsgade and Sarjieldenav, the Sun of Destruction, into a reason-destroying spell, Venuzdonoa, which completely deprived the world of the order of destruction. Anos then used Venuzdonoa to split her order and consciousness, allowing her to reincarnate as a demon in the future.Synopsis[]
Great Spirit Arc[]
After the war between demons and humans was averted, Nosgalia sought to eliminate Anos and revive Abernyu with the help of the Child of God. This mysterious figure was eventually revealed to be Misa Iliorogue, who was also the spirit that embodied the legends of the fake Demon King Avos Dilhevia. Due to her rumors and lore, she could claim ownership of Delsgade to take control of Venuzdonoa.
She attempted to defeat Anos with Venuzdonoa but failed after Anos used his Mauve Magic Eyes to nullify the sword's power. Afterward, she frees Sarjieldenav to fulfill Nosgalia's mission to restore the order of destruction, but it destroys her instead. After her defeat, Anos saves Misa and regains control of Delsgade and Venuzdonoa.
Jiordal, Kingdom of the Divine Dragon Arc[]
During class, Anos makes Class 1-2 train with Edonica doubles and uses Venuzdonoa to enable those copies to have a mind of their own.
Later, in order to defend the dome from Beherom, Anos lent Venuzdonoa to Arcana, so she could use fuse it with the Moon of Creation to create Leviangilma, the Sword of the Almighty. Usually, Leviangilma can only make Arcana and whoever she made a pact with eternally unchanging, but Venuzdonoa was able to destroy that reason even when it changed shape, allowing the sword's effect to work on the dome.
Demon King's Father Arc
Anos later learned that Militia kept his lost memories in artifacts called the Creation Stars Erial. Anos and his group set out to find them. He learned that his real father, Ceris Voldigoad, was killed by Graham. Anos fought Graham and destroyed him with Egil Grone Angdroa, but Graham revealed that his true form was nothingness. Anos summoned Delsgade to use Venuzdonoa, but it could not permanently destroy Graham. While Graham's weapon, Befenguzdogma, and Venuzdonoa, seemed evenly matched, Befenguzdogma could destroy Venuzdonoa.
Disaster Abyss World Arc
In a challenge against Kostoria Arzenon, Anos let Kostoria summon Venuzdonoa. Because Sasha regained her power as the Goddess of Destruction by merging with Delsgade, her body and sight became the domain of Delsgade, so she must be present to summon Venuzdonoa. She can manifest the sword in her sight via her Magic Eyes of Reason Destruction. Despite Kostoria Arzenon correctly summoning Venuzdonoa, she did not win because Venuzdonoa destroyed reason, and Anos won the challenge.
Later, in a duel between Sasha and Kostoria, Sasha used Venuzdonoa herself, but Kostoria copied Venuzdonoa via her Magic Eyes of Transcription. Both failed to destroy each other, and Sasha's magic power ran out, preventing them from continuing to use the sword.Abilities[]
Absolute Destruction: Venuzdonoa can destroy anything, regardless of how tough, eternal, or infinite it is. Even reason itself can be destroyed. The sword can undermine the immortality of gods and prevent their regeneration.[5][8] Venuzdonoa can nullify spells and reduce them to nothing.[9] By destroying the order of the world, the Abolisher of Reason can slice a target without making contact with it.[10] The sword can even be used outside of combat, for instance, to ensure that wrong answers on a test receive full marks and bonus points.[11] However, the order will be restored once the sword is put away, so the effects of Venuzdonoa are temporary.[1][12]
Weaknesses[]
- Limited Range: Venuzdonoa can only be used near Delsgade, likely due to the Goddess of Destruction Abernyu being sealed there. It is possible to summon Delsgade with origin magic, meaning Venuzdonoa can be used virtually anywhere,[9] but summoning the castle consumes an immense amount of power and casting the greater spell takes some time.[9] And even though Venuzdonoa does not have a time limit itself, the spell used to summon Delsgade has a duration of five minutes.[13] Different dimensions created by magic are irrelevant as long as the wielder is physically near the castle.[10]
- After Sasha Necron regained her powers as the Goddess of Destruction by merging with Delsgade, her presence became necessary to summon the Abolisher of Reason.[14] She also has similar limitations as Anos when summoning Venuzdonoa. It takes her three minutes to summon Venuzdonoa,[15] and she does not have enough magic power to use the sword for long periods.[16]
- High Magic Consumption: In addition to its high summoning cost, drawing and using Venuzdonoa consumes more magic power than any other spell in Anos' arsenal.[17]
- Weaker Remotely: The Abolisher of Reason can only show its true value when held by its wielder. It can still be used without the wielder holding it in their hands,[9][11] but it is weaker as a result.[9]
- Anti-Divine Abilities: Venuzdonoa can be nullified by people with Mauve Magic Eyes. The Eyes can contain Venuzdonoa's divine power and prevent it from working.[2] Graham's weapon, Befenguzdogma, could tamper with Venuzdonoa's abilities and even destroy it.[12] Parrington Anessa's Red Thread that manipulates fate was also able to nullify Venuzdonoa,[18] although it should be noted that at that time, Venuzdonoa was incomplete and not held by its wielder.[19]
