Like a Single Stroke of a Sword (ただ一振りの剣の如く, Tada Hitofuri no Ken Nogotoku^?) is the seventh episode of The Misfit of Demon King Academy II anime series.

Synopsis

The Forest of the Great Spirit Aharthern. Anos who has transformed into his younger form, takes on the fake name Anoshu Polticoal, and decides to stay to investigate for a while. They watch over Shin who was tasked with being a bodyguard of the Great Spirit Leno by Anos prior to his reincarnation, and then appears the Blaze Death King Erdomaid, who claims to have brought information regarding the gods...

Summary

In the distant past, ancient demons forged a magic sword to annihilate the gods.

After vanquishing the gwen with everyone's help, the Great Spirit Leno summons Zenetero to heal the withered forest. Anoshu speculates that the hounds must've sneaked in before the walls were raised, and since NousGalia could still be inside as well, Shin offers to stay and protect Leno. Suddenly, the Tithi appears to inform Leno of Migelonov's imminent passing. The Great War Tree Migelonov, a spirit that bestows humans the wisdom to survive great wars, is on the verge of dying due to violating her birthing lore. Instead of giving humans the wisdom to fight demons, she focused on the wisdom for them to coexist. She doesn't regret it, as she would die either way with the end of the Great War. However, she tells Leno that she will also have to make that choice in the future, whether to protect her own lore or betray them to protect something precious to her.

Leno's tears cause the Great Tree Teacher Enyunien to be born in Migelonov's former place. Anoshu and his friends look for clues about Lena's identity while Leno and Shin spend time together. Eventually, the Blaze Death King Erdomaid DittiJohn approaches them with information regarding NousGalia's whereabouts. He wants to create enemies for the Demon King for him to get even stronger, but if Shin and Leno were able to stop the Child of God, then it wouldn't be worthy of facing Anos. Erdomaid leads them to a lake, but suddenly, he attacks Leno. The Evil King explains that after Anos fatally wounded NousGalia, he allowed the god to possess him to recover. Since Leno was chosen to give birth to the Child of God, NousGalia would be forced to resurface if she was in danger. To protect Leno, Shin fatally stabs Erdomaid.

But this was also within Erdomaid's expectations, as the Heavenly Father would also resurface if his host were in danger. Now in control of Erdomaid's body, NousGalia taunts Shin for his lack of emotions and reveals his true identity as a magic sword, the Disastrous God-slaying Sword Shin Reglia. He tells Shin that the gods can give him what he lacks, so he commands Shin to raise the Child of God that will be born from Leno. Indifferent, Shin beheads NousGalia, who warns Shin that he can't escape order. After hearing this, Leno feels apologetic for telling Shin to express himself earlier, but she vows to help him find his heart.

Differences from the light novel:

• The anime doesn't state what each member of Anos' group got from Migelonov's wisdom.
  • Misha and Sasha only possess half of their original power, which will awaken once they return to one.
  • Eleonore should learn new magic, as she may be more suited to assisting others than fighting herself.
  • Zeshia has the potential of a great hero, whose specialty seems to be Mirror magic.
  • Lay may want to follow Shin's example, as his sword will help him arrive somewhere different one day.
  • Rina is not suited to battle. She needs to find what she must do and follow her heart.
