— Anos to the Fan Union |
Demon King Hymn No. 6 "Neighbors" (魔王讃美歌 第6番『隣人』 Maō Sanbika Dai Roku-ban "Rinjin"?) is the twenty-first episode of The Misfit of Demon King Academy II anime series.
Synopsis[]
The sacred Sojourner's Psalm to be performed at the Divine Dragon Festival is in danger of being cancelled due to Ahide's schemes! Ellen and the Anos Fan Union are asked to take the stage instead as the Dilhade Demon King Choir. The Draconids are drawn in by their song and begin to sing along. Meanwhile, while trying to pursue and capture Ahide, Anos encounters Dietrich, the King of Agatha, who has received a prophecy from the Goddess of the Future Naphta.
Summary[]
The Sojourner's Psalm is hijacked by Ahide, who made its singers disappear to prove that their religion is a farce and fulfill the conditions for Nedneliaz. However, he still doesn't wake up, so Anos captures him. Unfortunately for him, Ahide was using a fake body. Because it's too late to find replacements, Irina asks Ellen to perform the Sojourner's Psalm instead, as she believes in her singing. After introducing themselves, the Demon King's Choir sings the Demon King Hymn No. 6: "Neighbor". The draconids like their song, but its lyrics are a bit distasteful to them, so the Eight Song Sages speak up. Because their analysis is positive, the audience begins singing without reservation.
Elsewhere, Anos looks for traces of Ahide and meets Dietrich Kreizen Agatha, the ruler of Agatha and also one of the Selected Eight. He is also looking for Ahide, as the former cardinal stole the Royal Dragon from Agatha. He tried meeting with the Pope, but he was ignored. Because his Selection God is the Goddess of the Future Naphta, Dietrich foresaw that meeting Anos would allow them to meet with the Pope. He also foresaw that Ahide would return to the festival venue where the Sojourner's Psalm is held.
The two capture Ahide and bring him in front of the cathedral, where Pope Golroana resides. Dietrich wants proof that Ahide was working alone, or there would be war, so Golroana swears on his god. Ahide uses this opportunity to spread heresy to the pope, but nothing happens, causing him to finally realize that he was out of Nedneliaz. He tries to beg for forgiveness, but Golroana sees through his true nature and excommunicates him. Because both Anos and Dietrich have matters to discuss with Golroana, he tells them to settle it among themselves and that he will listen to the victor. As a result, the two decide to fight each other's Selection Gods.
As the Goddess of the Future, Naphta limits the future to one where Anos can't dodge Kandaquizorte, impaling him. Even though his Demon King's blood completely corrodes the spear, its fragments reappear, as Kandaquizorte embodies all possible futures, and it won't be destroyed unless they are all destroyed. She then traps Anos inside her Restricted World, where the worst possible outcomes for him come true. Everything in the crystal world impales him, but his Demon King's blood corrodes them, allowing him to heal. As a result, Anos unleashes his doomsday spell Egil Grone Angdroa, which destroys both her Restricted World and Naphta herself. However, he uses his Mauve Magic Eyes to stop her destruction.
Dietrich defeats Arcana shortly after, as he has a disproportionate power due to being a dragonborn, someone who was born directly from a dragon. Because Anos defeated his goddess first, Dietrich concedes defeat and leaves with an unconscious Ahide. When Anos asks him why he challenged him despite knowing he can't win, Dietrich replies that there's no point in a prophecy if it can't be overturned. Before leaving, he tells Anos that the Selection God that chose him for the Judgement Selection is the Goddess of Creation, Militia. He also warns Anos to destroy Golroana if they fight, or he will expose Dilhade to danger.
The doors then open, revealing a praying Golroana. When Anos asks him about the God of Vestiges, the Pope reveals that Liebarschend is the god that will save the Underground World, and until that day comes, he will remain sleeping. Golroana also refuses to divulge the god's location, as this information is only passed down among the popes. However, he is more than happy to trade it for Arcana, as she is supposedly Militia's reincarnation, someone important for the underground world's rebirth. Anos apologizes, as he promised to end the Selection with her. Golroana is opposed to this, as the Judgement Selection is an important ritual for the underground world, something that people who live aboveground comfortably wouldn't understand. As a result, the two start a divine battle.
