Synopsis[]
A horde of dragons approaches Azeshion! To protect their homeland with their own hands, the Hero Academy students set out to slay the dragons without the help of Anos and his friends. Under Emilia's command, the Hero Academy students engage in a battle to the death. Meanwhile, Lay and Misa wind up in a predicament after being captured by Lysius…. Anos and the others head to the Underground World to take care of their own agenda. There, he learns that Ahide is controlling the Draconids.
Summary[]
Erdomaid comments on the heroes' recklessness while fighting the variant dragon when Zamira Engelo appears. The royal brings news of a dragon invasion, so he demands the Hero Academy to serve as the nation's shield. Not liking his attitude, Anoshu teleports him to the frontlines, as the royal family were the ones who led the charge against dragons 2,000 years ago. Because the heroes want to defend their homeland with their own hands, Emilia decides to protect the capital without the Demon King Academy's help.
Soon, Emilia devises a plan to intercept the dragons at the Torinos Plain, so Heine, Ledriano, and Laos create artificial canals that connect the holy lake to the plains. The students use these to travel to the plains, but since Emilia is falling behind, Eleonore helps her by giving her the Ultimate Swimsuit. Once at the location, Emilia activates Asc and uses the magic gathered to create De Jelias magic threads that cover the entire forest. This will temporarily halt the dragons while Heine carves an enormous magic circle on the ground for De Jelias, which will be fueled by the holy water drawn from the lake.
Back at the underground cavern, Lay still refuses to draw Evansmana, so King Lysius orders Enus Ne Mes to go deeper inside Misa's head. A foggy outline of Avos Dilhevia then appears, asking Lay if he could still love her despite changing completely.
The Hero Academy defends the perimeter, but they eventually get breached, so Eleonore uses Eorunes to create support orbs. These orbs draw the maximum power from one's source, but their power will be halved when the duration ends. This allows Laos to singlehandedly slay a dragon. The heroes also create a barrier above to protect against aerial attacks, but a tree mysteriously falls down and brings down the barrier with it. A dragon sneaks past and charges towards Emilia, but Ledriano pushes her out of the way and gets captured. Angry, Emilia grabs one of the orbs to save him.
Meanwhile, Anos teleports underground with the twins and finds the culprits interfering with Emilia's defense. He tries to interrogate one of them, but the draconid refuses, so Anos uses Nedneliaz to put him in a dream where he is killed endlessly until he confesses. As a result, the holy knight reveals that Ahide received a divine order to feed the people of Azesion to dragons so they are reborn from their wombs as pious draconids. After he reveals Ahide's location, Anos kills him and leaves the rest for Sasha and Misha. The two then fuse into Aisha Necron and use their Magic Eyes of Destruction and Magic Eyes of Creation simultaneously. This causes them to be mistaken for Genedonov, the Goddess of Absurdity.
Heine is almost done carving the magic circle, but a blue dragon suddenly appears and freezes the ground. While Eleonore and Zeshia defeat the dragon, Emilia melts the ice. However, a second blue variant emerges from the ground and freezes Heine. Emilia tries to help him, but she is flung away by a third one. Despite being frozen shut, Heine musters all of his strength and courage to snap his arm, causing it to fall off and stab the ground with his holy sword, finishing the magic circle. Since Emilia landed at the canal, and all the holy water is connected, she activates De Jelias to stop the dragons. Due to using holy water to cast a spell despite being a demon, she gets stigmas.
Anos arrives at Everastanzetta and asks Ahide if the attack is his doing or his country's. The cardinal claims that it is what the king of humanity wanted, as the people of Azesion believe in the Almighty Radiance Equis, who gave them the Hero Kanon and his holy sword Evansmana. Since Anos doesn't believe him to be an Oracle, Ahide gives him a prophecy. The Guardian God of Emotions will cause Misa's soul to depart for the gods, and when Lay draws Evansmana, the holy sword will be returned to the gods. He will lose his life as well, allowing the Royal Dragon to take the people of Azesion to the gods.
When Anos asks Ahide why his god didn't stop the war 2,000 years ago, Ahide replies that it was meant to happen. Anos finds this unforgivable, as it is mocking the people who tried their best to survive and those who died. Even now, Emilia and the others are putting their lives on the line to fight the dragons. Anos finally concludes that none of their lives are dictated by the gods and that Ahide is a fraud. He then shows Ahide a broadcast of Lay and Misa's fight to disprove his lies.
Lay answers Avos' question, stating that he'll always love her and that her true form is very cute. Avos Dilhevia then shows herself and reveals that she took control of Enus Ne Mes. This causes Lysius to recall the Guardian God of Emotions and make the Royal Dragon devour him, allowing him to control the giant beast with his god's power. Lysius reveals that he kept his daughter's consciousness alive within the dragon, and that only Evansmana can save her. Despite knowing it's a trap, Lay still tries to save her, only to backfire because Lysius' daughter is also deluded with salvation. The Royal Dragon absorbs Evansmana into its head and turns it into a horn. However, the holy sword is no match for the love between Lay and Misa, which creates a colossal sword of light. Ligaro Tir Traloth leaves a trail of explosions as it is swung down, detonating all the sources the Royal Dragon has consumed so far until it finally pierces the dragon.

Adaptation Notes[]
Differences from the light novel:
- The second and third blue dragon appear from the ground instead of the nearby forest.
- Laos is frozen by the same blue dragon that froze Heine. In the novel, he is flung away by a regular dragon.
- The scene with Lysius' daughter is shortened. In the novel, she attempts to kill Lay by turning her nails into dragon claws. However, she is stopped by Avos, who is tired of humanity's constant betrayal of Kanon and rips her out from the dragon's body and crushes her source.
