— Anos to Shin

To Sever the Fate (その宿命を断らきろために Nikushimi wa Kako ni?) is the eleventh episode of The Misfit of Demon King Academy II anime series.

Synopsis[]

Lay challenges Avos to liberate Misa whom he loves. However, Heavenly Father God NousGalia aids Avos, and seals Lay’s power of Evansmana. There, Anos and Shin arrive. Shin fights NousGalia once again to avenge his late wife, but he struggles against the enormous power of God. Then, he hears a voice for the first time in two thousand years...

Summary[]

Lay continues to battle Avos Dilhevia, but she ensnares him and prevents him from moving. She asks the hero to become her possession, as she's interested in him, but Lay states that those feelings are Misa's, not hers. As proof of their love, Lay gains magic from Teo Aske, which draws Misa's feelings from within Avos Dilhevia. He breaks free and attempts to attack her, only to be stopped by NousGalia. Since Evansmana is a holy sword blessed by the gods, the Heavenly Father can render it powerless. Lay is almost killed if not for the arrival of Anos Voldigoad and Shin Reglia.

NousGalia returns to his god form, but Anos creates and maintains a magic circle so Shin can fight the god and get revenge. However, Shin can't beat NousGalia and drops the love fairy's page that Leno gave him during the battle. He tries to pick it up, but NousGalia stabs his hand, causing Lena to react. The Heavenly Father then mocks Shin for believing in the false love that was granted to him, but Shin suddenly disappears and reappears behind Lena, who states that their love is real and that Shin was never affected by the "words of god" before awakening as the Great Spirit Leno. She resurrected by borrowing the body of a love fairy, spirits that temporarily lend their bodies to the deceased so they can meet their loved ones one last time. In exchange, they lose their memories, which is how she became Lena.

Leno then summons various spirits to fight NousGalia, though they aren't strong enough to affect him. But just like Leno did, the Great War Tree Migelonov resurrects to bid farewell to her dearest granddaughter and hands Leno the spell Alha Alfrem before vanishing. When Leno activates the spell, Shin is granted the powers of the spirits, which allows him to get near NousGalia and pierce his torso. Afterward, Shin activates the God Slasher's third hidden art to exponentially divide NousGalia's source in half and cause him excruciating pain. He then uses Eilarrow to seal NousGalia in a crystal.

Meanwhile, Avos Dilhevia continues fighting Lay and reduces his sources to one. The hero promises to save Misa, but Avos reminds him that destroying her would destroy Misa as well. However, Lay understands the risks and unleashes Evansmana's First Hidden Art, separating Avos and Misa into two. Although neither of the two can live long with half-sources, Misa accepts her fate, as her dream of equality won't be possible as long as Avos Dilhevia exists. The fake Demon King argues that her feelings are temporary, as they were born to embody the rumors of the Demon King of Tyranny, but Misa refutes her. She made friends who shares the same ideals and met a Demon King who does not tolerate injustice. She has a father who is waiting for her and somebody who loves her. Avos attempts to fire Jio Graze, but Lay cuts the spell along with her. However, it's too late, as she revives with Agronemt and finally seizes control of Venuzdonoa. Lay strikes her first, but Avos erases logic to strike him first. Afterward, she attempts to kill Misa in front of him, but the girl is saved by Anos, who appears with Shin and Reno.

Adaptation Notes[]

Differences from the light novel:

  • When Avos Dilhevia fires Jio Graze at Lay and Misa steps in to protect him, Avos grins before being cut down alongside her spell. In the novel, Avos never shoots the Jio Graze, as Misa was in the way. Killing Misa would result in her own death, and this hesitation gave Lay the opportunity to cut her down.
  • The anime doesn't explain what Anos' magic circle was doing while Shin and NousGalia fought, and he doesn't draw one in the light novel. But the novel does mention that Anos was analyzing Nosgalia's source, so it's possible that the magic circle was Glear.

Trivia[]

  • Lay allowed Avos Dilhevia to destroy his extra sources to unleash Evansmana's Hidden Art. A sword's Hidden Art can only be activated in a state of nothingness, which is extremely difficult when magic constantly flows from the source.
  • When Lay activated Evansmana's Hidden Art, its enormous power rejected NousGalia's words, which kept it powerless earlier as the activation of the Hidden Art was able to partially awaken the spirit sealed inside of the sword.
  • Despite being killed by Lay, Avos Dilhevia was able to resurrect from having her source destroyed by using Agronemt to regenerate her source. The reason why she was able to use it despite not having her source previously attacked by Evansmana is because the lore of the Demon King of Tyranny mentions that the Demon King was already defeated and killed by Hero Kanon and his holy sword Evansmana, thus satisfying the conditions for the spell's activation.
