| — Anos to Avos Dilhevia |
Hate of the Past (憎しみは過去に Nikushimi wa Kako ni?) is the tenth episode of The Misfit of Demon King Academy II anime series.
Synopsis[]
After witnessing Great Spirit Leno and Shin meet a tragic fate, Anos and his classmates return to Delsgade in the present day. There, persecution against those of mixed blood by Meleheyth and the demons whom Avos Dilhevia brainwashed was progressing. Anos holds them off and heads to the throne room. He faces off against Avos who attempts to steal Magic Sword of Destruction Venuzdnor!
Summary[]
Upon returning to the present, Anos vows to fix everything. Suddenly, the group hears Meleheyth's broadcast telling Anos to come to the Arena, or he will begin executing the hybrid students. Sasha and Misha volunteer to rescue them, so Anos gives them a magic hat that will prevent them from being recognized. Eleonore Bianca and Zeshia Bianca also split off to rescue the other students in the classrooms.
At the arena, Meleheyth tells one of the teachers, Nihid, to begin with a girl in white. However, a fellow student, Aramis Eltimo, offers to take her place. Aramis is the reincarnation of Igareth Ijeiska, a Hero, so Meleheyth accepts. Nihid approaches Aramis and then whispers something to him.
Anos finds Menou and learns the locations of Avos Dilhevia and the Spirit King. However, he is found out by Luche and her troops, so he and Lay incapacitate them. Anos then goes to the throne room and meets with the Spirit King, but it's actually Avos Dilehia in disguise. More accurately, she used Je Deschesis so that each of her allies contained a fragment of her source. Whoever Anos ended up meeting, she would undo the spell and reform there, facing him no matter what. Anos knows she's buying time to subjugate Venuzdonoa, but she simply begins the execution.
Aramis attempts to reason with the Seven Elder Demon Emperors, stating the Demon King was someone who wanted peace, but they don't react. Nihid then brings down a Jio Graze, but instead of hitting Aramis, it hits the Demon Emperors. He wholly agrees with Aramis' statement, as he is the reincarnation of Devidra, a loyal subordinate of the Demon King Anos Voldigoad. Nihid tries to make Meleheyth see past Avos Dilhevia's brainwashing, which momentarily gives him a headache, but it isn't enough, and he orders Gaios to execute the girl from earlier.
But the girl, Neon, easily dodges him and then shoots him down with Jio Graze. She is joined by other students, who similarly strike down the Demon Emperors with ease. All of them are reincarnations of Anos' past subordinates. Aramis then helps Nihid fight Meleheyth despite being almost killed by him two thousand years ago. When asked why, he states that Nihid saved him just now, prompting Nihid to mention that he left his hatred in the past. The Necron twins then appear with a pseudo-Delsgade and use it to turn all of the Seven Elder Demon Emperors into ice cats.
Despite this, Avos Dilhevia is not worried, as she still has hostages outside of the arena. Even if there are more reincarnations, they can't coordinate without knowing who's actually on their side. However, Anos reveals that there's a way— through the name "Anosh Polticoal". All of them met the time-traveling Demon King during Igareth's execution. Lay then attempts to slash Avos and sever her fate using Evansmana, but the Spirit King protects her and sucks Anos into Gennul's inner dimension. Once there, the Demon King and his right-hand man reunite. For the past two millennia, he has protected Misa from the shadows and betrayed his master. Now, he gives his life to Anos as penance.
Anos tells him he will only accept if Shin cuts Anos' right hand, as they promised in the past. Shin attempts to cut it, but he can't get himself to do it. Anos tells him that it was because he chose to live as a demon, not as a sword. He explains that he has a father in this life, whom he loves very much, and then asks Shin if he would rob Misa of her father. Shin questions if Misa would ever acknowledge him as her father, but Anos informs him that Misa treasures the half-sword he sent her, believing he will one day come for her. If not Shin, who else can call himself her father? In response, Shin replies that Anos has become stronger and kinder than ever.

Adaptation Notes[]
Differences from the light novel:
- Lay only defeats Luche while Anos restrains her subordinates and neutralizes them. In the novel, Lay dispatches the whole group by himself, while Anos casts Indol and Griad to neutralize them.
- In the novel, Anos is confronted by a group of demons from 2,000 years ago before entering the throne room. He temporarily breaks their brainwashing by telling them to look at his source, but this doesn't last so he defeats them with Jio Graze.
- In the novel, there are other royal students wielding magic items, so Misha and Sasha's hats do not look out of place.
- Glaze is omitted from the anime. He was supposed to help Nihid check the students for Anos' followers.
- In the novel, Avos Dilhevia enhances her minions through the power of Demera Gyze, which allows the brainwashed Demon Elders to fight against the more numerous Anos-affiliated reincarnated demons.
