A Lesson by God (神の授業, Kami no Jugyō^?) is the first episode of The Misfit of Demon King Academy II anime series.

Synopsis

Erdomaid DittiJohn, one of the four evil royals, has appeared before Anos as a teacher at Demon King Academy. Not only that, he claims himself to be the Heavenly Father God NousGalia, and that the new "Child of God" who will vanquish the Demon King of Tyranny is also at the Demon King Academy. The "Misfit" overcomes all odds and starts a new battle!

Summary

Two thousand years ago, Anos saved Reno from the Heavenly Father God NousGalia, who wanted her to bear the "Child of God". To protect her as she travels to Delsgade, Anos leaves his right-hand man Shin with her. After Anos' sacrifice, the two travel back to Aharthern, but find it under attack by the Divine Beast Gwen. Reno is attacked from behind, but a boy named Anoshu Polticoal saves her.

In the present, Anos' class is introduced to Erdomaid DittiJohn, one of the legendary Four Evil Royals, and their new homeroom teacher. He clarifies that Anos is the real Demon King of Tyranny, upsetting the royal students. Anos is aware that he is possessed by NousGalia, but lets him be nonetheless.

The Heavenly Father teaches the class about the Goddess of Destruction Abernyu, whose power was taken and turned into Venuzdonoa by Anos. Because of this disrupted order, the gods created the "Child of God" to destroy him. He also reveals that this entity is already in the academy. The royal students don't believe him, so NousGalia uses magic to choke them. Anos summons Venuzdonoa to kill him and resurrects him with only 10% of his source, as permanently killing NousGalia would leave the world without order and destroy it.

Anos' group then split into three to find the "Child of God". Eleonore and Zeshia meet with the heroes from the Hero Academy, but find them poisoned. Lay and Misa are approached by a student claiming to be a subordinate of her father. Sasha and Misha discover that Menou was kidnapped. When Anos checks with Melheis, he finds him dead. The perpetrators are the direct subordinates of the Four Evil Royals.

Adaptation Notes

Differences from the light novel:

• NousGalia's introduction in the anime is more violent, heralded by twin explosions that blow away the Tithi. In the novel, he appears from beyond the fog while the Tithi flees.
• The Arc 4 prologue is extended greatly. It includes a montage of Reno and Shin's journey to Delsgade, Anos' sacrifice, and the former two's return to Aharthern. It is followed by their encounter with Anoshu Polticoal, which doesn't happen until later in the arc.
  • In the anime, Anoshu reveals himself to protect Reno. But in the novel, he reveals himself because Reno can sense everyone in the Great Spirit Forest.
• In the novel, Erdomaid DittiJohn wears white robes during his debut, a particular color that informs the royal students that he isn't pureblood. In the anime, he wears similar clothes as Menou Historia; thus, the royal students shouldn't know about his social status.

Trivia

• It is revealed that Jerga, the previous antagonist of the first season, had conspired with NousGalia, as the god help him turn his source into magic spell to destroy Anos.
