Supreme Dragon (覇竜 Haryū?) is a dragon worshipped in Gadeciola, as the dragon that devours gods.
Appearance[]
The Supreme Dragon is an enormous purple dragon.[1]
History
The Supreme Dragon's true identity is that of the Gluttony God Galvadorion, who was turned into a into a god-eating dragon by Overlord Veaflare, its own chosen one for the Selected Eight.[2] The idea came from Ceris Voldigoad, who also taught her the spell that would allow her to reincarnate Galvadorion within her womb.[3]
After this, Veaflare began implanting her citizens with a Supreme Dragon, which altered their memories to keep them in Gadeciola and could rob them of their free will at any moment.[3] In addition, she bestowed the Forbidden Soldiers with the Supreme Dragons' power, giving them dragon-like features.[2]
Synopsis[]
Jiordal, Kingdom of the Divine Dragon Arc[]
After defeating Pope Golroana, Anos notices something lurking inside the pope's body and cuts off his hand, revealing the Supreme Dragon. It then moved to consume the orders of the pope's defeated gods from his Selection Pledge Jewel, but Anos beheads it. However, there are more dragons inside the pope, and they transform him into a dragon-like state in order to escape. Anos tries to kill the Supreme Dragon, but it keeps multiplying into more dragons. By the time he destroys all their sources, the transformed Golroana was already gone.
Agatha Prophecy Arc[]
When Arcana and Lay are detained at Gadeciola's border checkpoint, a Phantom Knight tries to confirm if Lay is really a god as he claims by having him survive a bite from the Supreme Dragon. To protect his cover, Lay cuts off the soldier's arm and all the dragons that appear from the open wound, but this causes them to multiply until there are thirty of them. However, the two receive unexpected assistance from Aeges Code, who uses Dehiddatem to send all the dragons to another dimension. When questioned about his motives, Aeges reveals that he couldn't allow Arcana, the Goddess of Absurdity, to fall under the enemy's hands. He also reveals the Supreme Dragon's origin and that he has a personal reason for joining the Phantom Knights.
After Anos kills the fake Boldinos, a Supreme Dragon appears and attempts to parasitize him under Veaflare's orders. However, he uses Vebzud to tear it to pieces and Ji Noavus to destroy all copies that arise from them. Veaflare laments the death of her children, but Anos is disgusted with her rule and attempts to kill her. Unfortunately, Veaflare summons the Supreme Dragon that controls Pope Golroana and uses him as a hostage. As a result, Anos allows the Supreme Dragon to take him as a host instead. It writhes in pain due to Anos' Source of Destruction, but Veaflare anticipated this and uses Enneteroton, God of Parasites, to successfully nest into his source. Once complete, she orders Anos to lick her feet, but Anos summons the Supreme Dragon to bite her instead. Due to demon biology, any parasite that attaches to him will be put under his control. Veaflare reminds him that half of the Supreme Dragon still remains in Golroana, but they also exit the pope to attack Veaflare, as all the Supreme Dragons share a single source colony. Because his control will eventually extend to all the citizens she has parasitized, a weeping Veaflare is forced to activate the self-destruct spell on them.
Arcana eventually retrieves Ahid and brings him to Anos, but multiple dragon heads come out from his body to attack her. Anos uses Ji Noavus to destroy them, but the last one is protected by Ceris' magic, allowing it to swallow Arcana whole and steal a portion of the Order of Balance. This causes the underground dome to become even more unstable and threaten to fall at any moment. However, Anos severs the Supreme Dragon from Ahid, as Arcana reappears from a single lunar snowdrop. Having awakened her Magic Eyes of Absurdity, Arcana transmutes the Supreme Dragon into her divine sword, Locoronotto, and stabs Ahid with it. Despite his pleas, she freezes him to death.
When Ceris arrives, Anos deals with him while Arcana keeps Veaflare occupied by transforming all the Supreme Dragons that come out of her, which appear to be endless as she is their progenitor. Elsewhere, the Knights of Agatha approach the Overlord Castle and create a path by burning away the Forbidden Army. However, their ashes create hundreds of thousands of Supreme Dragons to stop their charge. More Supreme Dragons appear to reinforce them, and they all fire their purple breaths at the knights. However, they are unharmed due to Naphta's sublime world, which makes the flames actively avoid them. The knights then receive support from Ricardo and the Royal Dragon, who destroy the Supreme Dragons instantly, as Naphta's power also nullifies their propagation. This allows the Agathan warriors to break past the enemy formation and land at the castle, while their dragon mounts remain outside to combat the Supreme Dragons.
After turning all of Veaflare's Supreme Dragons into snow and trapping her inside the snow barrier, Arcana helps Aisha create a makeshift Sky Pillar Sword to hold the dome. Veaflare summons her Forbidden Soldiers to stop them, but Anos kills them and uses Ji Noavus to destroy the dragons crawling out of them. Although the Sky Pillar Sword broke immediately, this gives Anos the confidence that one can be created with magic. He plans to make one from the materialized love of the people of Jiordal, Agatha, and Gadeciola combined. Veaflare tries to summon the Supreme Dragons from her citizens to attack the others, but nothing happens. Anos reveals that his immunity has now spread to all the Supreme Dragons and that she was too late to terminate them at that time. The reason why some of them were still obeying her was because he was prioritizing the ones inside her people, but now, he even controls her Forbidden Soldiers.
Abilities[]
- Omni-Devouring: The Supreme Dragon has the ability to devour anything that exists - from physical matter to the abstract concepts that form the entire world. It is feared as the "god-eating dragon", as it can consume gods and their order to appropriate their power, strengthening its own power. The Supreme Dragon that consumed the orders of the God of Traces and Gospel has tremendous power. A single bite from the Supreme Dragon is stated to be capable of easily killing a mortal being. The origin of the Supreme Dragon's power is the distorted Order of Gluttony, due to the fact that the Supreme Dragon is the reincarnated form of Galvadorion, the God of Gluttony.
- Source Colony: By consuming gods and people, the Supreme Dragon assimilates their sources into itself, forming a colony of sources that are all interconnected.[2][3] So long as it has enough sources, whenever the Supreme Dragon is cut or reduced to ashes, its pieces can transform into separate copies of the Supreme Dragon, which possesses all of the abilities of the original. Having consumed countless sources prior, it was essentially unkillable, as it was able to continuously divide until all of its sources were destroyed,[2] or if their sources were destroyed so thoroughly that it could no longer divide itself.[3] While seemingly undefeatable, the Supreme Dragon can be defeated with spells such as Ji Noavus, which clings to the target and continues destroying it no matter how many times it tries to divide itself.[4]
- Parasitism: The Supreme Dragon and its countless duplicates can parasitize the sources of other beings, strengthening by manifesting dragon-like features - claws, tails, horns, and wings; as the host will gain the appearance of a half-dragon. The host gains the ability to use the powers of the Supreme Dragon, and if they were to suffer a significant injury such as the loss of a limb or other kinds of sever injuries, then the Supreme Dragon will emerge from the body to attack the aggressor with his sharp fangs. Despite this, the host can control it and manifest the features of the Supreme Dragon independently, such as manifesting it from their limbs or even turning their limbs into dragon heads. However, in exchange for these enhancements, the host which the Supreme Dragon is parasitizing can be turned into a mind-controlled pawn of the Supreme Dragon's owner, in this case — the Overlord of Gadeciola. This also gives the latter the ability to influence the beings' memories as the Supreme Dragon inhabits the being's source.
