The Selection Trial (選定審判 Sentei Shinpan?), also known as the Judgement Selection, is an event that is held to determine which mortal would become a proxy of the gods.
Overview[]
According to Ahid, it is possible for the world to lose order if the gods maintaining them are truly destroyed. In order to prevent the loss of order, one mortal is chosen by the "Almighty Brilliance" Equis to act as their replacement, thereby becoming a proxy of the gods. For this purpose, the Selection Trial is held and eight mortals are chosen by their respective gods, who become Selection Gods and bestow their Selected with a Selection Pledge Jewel that summons them. Although it's possible for gods to be destroyed in the Selection Trial, their orders aren't truly lost, as they are preserved in the Selection Pledge Jewel, thus preventing any fallout to the world's order.[1] Alternatively, a Selection God can consume the orders of the destroyed gods to obtain their abilities for themselves.[2]
When there is only one Selected remaining with their Selection God, the God of Balance Elrolarielm appears before them and bestows the Selected the title of divine proxy. This person is then granted all of the orders that their Selection God managed to accumulate throughout the Selection Trial, including their own.[3] Anyone else present will be unable to see or touch the God of Balance. As a result, Elrolarielm's existence was hidden from the draconids, who came up with the idea of the "Almighty Brilliance, Equis" to explain the mysterious presence overseeing the Selection Trial.[4]
Corruption[]
According to Veaflare, the current Selection Trial involves the Selected and their gods fighting one another, but that wasn't always the case. This was created as a consequence of Anos sealing the Goddess of Destruction Abernyu into Delsgade and stealing her order of destruction, thus affecting many orders of the gods. Because the order of destruction was distorted and things that should've perished did not, the current Selection Trial enables violent conflict among the Selected, causing the deaths of many civilians who get caught in the crossfire. This will be repeated numerous times until the inevitable "doomsday", in which the whole Underground World is fated to be destroyed, thus balancing out the lives that should've been lost.[5]
Participants[]
While there were initially eight people selected for the Selection Trial, the number of them increased to eleven after Graham used the power of his Selection God, the God of Frenzy Aganzon, to distort the order of the God of Balance Elrolarielm.

Trivia[]
- Divine proxies are different from standard gods, as their names do not represent order.[5]
Notes[]
- ↑ While Militia was the one who nominated Anos for the Selection Trial, it was actually Arcana who formed a pact with him and fought alongside him.
- ↑ After being deemed unworthy of becoming a proxy of the gods, their pact becomes annulled.
- ↑ Haleziend annulled its pact with Grysilis, and became Shin's pact god, after the latter manage to subjugate its sword form.
