Rina (リィナ Ryina?) is an amnesiac spirit who wanders in search of her memories. Her true identity is the Great Spirit Reno, who was revived by a love fairy after her premature death at the hands of the Heavenly Father Nosgalia.
Appearance[]
She has clear light blue hair peeking out from her hood. Anos thinks that the hood might actually be part of her rumors, as he can't see the face beyond the hood even with his magic eyes.[2]
Personality[]
History[]
Due to Nosgalia's schemes to create the Child of God, Reno violated her rumors of being the mother of spirits and was forced to leave her husband and daughter early. After her death, a love fairy was born so she could convey her final feelings. Reno lost her memories as part of the resurrection, and the amnesiac spirit Rina was born.
Her earliest memories are of Zehenburg, where she wandered in search of her missing memories. When she heard about the Great Spirit Forest, she immediately knew she had to go there. Since the location of the forest changed depending on its rumors, Rina worked as an information broker in order to collect rumors.[3]
Synopsis[]
Great Spirit Arc[]
After exposing a scammer, Rina is attacked by the merchant and his lackeys, but she is saved by Anos. He asks her about the Great Spirit Forest, which was brought up during the altercation, so Rina explains her circumstances, and Anos allows her to accompany his group. They eventually find the mischievous spirits Titi and gain their help to enter Aharthern. Once inside the forest, Rina recovers some memories and looks around with a nostalgic expression, when the Titi suddenly notice that Rina resembles the late Reno.
Afterward, they look for Anos' old subordinates at the Great Tree Ennunien but are forcibly enrolled in the spirit school. The teacher, Ennunien, appears and asks the class about lesser-known spirits, which Rina identifies correctly. Anos uses Eviy on her after class, and a lot of her memories return, so she navigates through the school's mazelike corridors and leads Anos' group to the Forest of Books, where they can study. They take the test a week later and pass, earning the right to take the Spirit Trial.
Rina chooses the wrong path on the first trial, but she recalls hidden passages and is able to proceed. She finds Anos and the two arrive at a flower garden, when Rina suddenly tears up, as she has been there many times before. She remembers that she had something to say to the Spirit King, but doesn't know what unless they meet. They reach Gennul's trial afterward and find Aeges, who offers to work together. Rina is spirited away during the fight, but this tells Anos how to defeat the Wolf of Hiding. While Anos continues ahead, Aeges stays to rescue those spirited away.
After the Great Spirit Avos Dilhevia awakens and takes control of Dilhade, the spirits turn against Anos' party in order to protect her, as Avos is the Child of God and Reno's biological child. Despite their best efforts to keep them in Aharthern, Anos reunites with Rina, who manages to convince the titi to help them escape. She asks to accompany them since she has a feeling they can help her regain her memories.
During the final confrontation in Delsgade, Rina watches as Shin and Nosgalia fight. When Shin drops the page of the love fairy that Reno gave him, Nosgalia takes advantage of this to pin him down and burn him with divine flames. However, this causes Rina to recover her memories and awaken her true self to save Shin. Similarly, Migelonov temporarily revives with the help of a love fairy, and hands Reno the spell Alha Alfrem. With this, she empowers Shin with the power of the spirits, allowing him to defeat the Heavenly Father and finally avenge her death. Since she was able to save her husband and daughter, Reno disappears as the love fairy fulfills its purpose.
Abilities[]
- Spirit Knowledge: Rina has an intuitive knowledge of both spirits and Aharthern, as she was able to answer Ennunien's most obscure questions and find various secret passages during the Spirit Trial.
- Limited Magic Power: Because the love fairies lend their own bodies to the deceased, they don't have their original magic power but the fairies' very low magic power. They could draw the magic circle, but they didn't have enough power to activate it.[4]
Relationships[]
Anos Voldigoad[]
Rina is very thankful to Anos for saving her and taking her to Aharthern. When she recovers some of her memories, she remarks that Anos is a good person and that she was right about him, suggesting that they had met before.[5]
