I can't wait for someday. I want to save people now. I want to save as many suffering people as possible at this very moment. If I can't do that, then I won't be able to save anyone when that day comes.
— Misa to Lay Grandsley in "Mother's Words"

As I said at the beginning, I have taken everything from you. Your name, your subordinates, your castle, and now the symbol of your strength are mine.
— Avos to Anos in "The True Demon King" after seizing Venuzdonoa

Misa Iliorogue (ミサ・イリオローグ Misa Iriorōgu?), born as Misa Reglia (ミサ・レグリア Misa Reguria?) is one of Anos' classmates and a member of the Unitarians, as well as the president of the Anos Fan Union.

She is the daughter of Shin Reglia and the Great Spirit Reno, as well the spirit that was formed from the rumors and traditions of the fictional Demon King Avos Dilhevia (アヴォス・ディルヘヴィア Avosu Diruhevia?), as well as the Child of God (神の子 Kami no Ko?), who would destroy the true Demon King of Tyranny.

Appearance[]

Misa is a girl with small stature and a pale complexion. She has brown eyes that fade into orange at the end. Her hair is also brown and is being fastened by two white elastic hairbands. Misa also has bangs, as the right one is longer than the other one.

She wears a white standard Demon King Academy uniform for the ones that are not pure-blood demons, this uniform includes blue straight lines that are embroidered on the sleeves, bottom, collar, and the top. On her sleeves, there are diamond-like ornaments embroidered to them. She possesses a Quadrangle badge. Misa wears black tights and black boots with white soles, heels, and toes.

Misa's Shell Necklace

Misa's Michens Necklace

Misa owns a Michens Necklace that was given to her as a gift by Lay during the academy exchange with the Hero Academy, and she deeply treasures it. It is a light brown shell with brown growth lines, attached to a brown string.

Avos is a young woman with a tall stature and pale complexion. She has deep blue eyes with a whiteish outline in the center. Her long hair is of a dark blueish-black color which is reminiscent of the ocean and is being fastened by two black elastic hairbands.

She wears a black overcoat over a blue-tinted black elegant midnight dress. The overcoat reaches just below her legs and features dark silver fur-like accessories attached to the neckline and hemline, as well as large cuffs. The dress features a high collar, a more exposed decollete due to being made from thinned fabric. In the anime, while posing as the male Avos, she wore a cloak to hide her feminine figure and her special mask to conceal her identity.

In her true form, her Michens Necklace transforms into an extravagant ten-pointed star blue crystal-like necklace that is nearly identical to the necklaces that the Titi wear.

Personality[]

Misa is a happy go-lucky girl who looks at everything with a positive attitude and is an individual who refuses to giving up. She is noted to be very caring and compassionate as she always strives to help those in need. It is revealed that her main reason for wanting to change the current structure of demon society by joining the Unitarians was so that she could met her father, who couldn't see her due to the discriminatory nature of the demon hierarchy towards hybrids. Despite this, she doesn't hate the royals themselves and hopes that the two can join hands together to form a better future as one. Misa also demonstrated great bravery as she was willing to risk her life by reducing her own source to heal Lay's mother, despite the fact that doing so could have endangered her own source and completely destroy her.

After being reincarnated, she still possesses the ability to transform into Avos Dilhevia, but while Misa maintains her own sense of self, the remnants of Avos' personality influence Misa's own personality in this form. Misa becomes far more confident, ruthless towards her enemies and is far less shy about her romantic love for Lay, even aggressively flirting with him and responding to his advances, in contrast to her more passive reactions in her temporary form.

Due to being born from the legends and lore of the Demon King of Tyranny that was passed down between the royalist demons, who assert pureblood supremacy, and humans, who regard the Demon King of Tyranny as a threat to humankind, Avos Dilhevia is shown to be cruel and arrogant, especially in her power, as she mocked Anos with the fact that she took everything from him. Avos is shown to be a proponent of pureblood supremacy due to the royalist rumors, as she ordered all of the hybrids to be hunted down and forcing them to become nourishment for her and the royal demons.

She is shown to dislike being negatively compared to Anos, as she got enraged enough to try to kill Lay despite her own desire to turn him to her side. She is also shown a desire to fight and defeat Anos in battle, thus proving her own superiority over him, as the Demon King of Tyranny.

Despite her change in character, she still maintains her love for Lay/Kanon, albeit in a twisted way, as she tried to seduce and tempt him into joining her and told him that if he wouldn't become hers, she would tear him to pieces and keep his source in a bottle of magic so that she can have him to herself.

History[]

Misa was conceived by the union of the Great Spirit Reno, the Mother of Spirits and Shin Reglia, the Demon King of Tyranny's right hand man, as Reno asked Shin to marry her before her reincarnated, but became pregnant with Misa. However, Nosgalia interfered in her conception by using his powers to make her the chosen "Child of God", whose purpose was to destroy the Demon King Anos Voldigoad.

Misa is born prematurely.

After Shin left to reincarnate, Nosgalia attacked Reno and made Misa be born prematurely by using Kurst, forcibly extracting her from her mother's womb. He also synchronized her source to embody the essence of the Demon King of Tyranny, as she was made into the spirit of the rumors and traditions of the Imaginary Demon King, Avos Dilhevia.

Misa is sent to the future

Misa is sent to the future.

To save her her daughter, Reno stabilized her birth with her tears and sent her to the future with the aid of Ezyssey, the Spring of Time, in the hopes that the Demon King Anos would be able to save her. In order to keep his daughter alive, Shin had to continue to had to spread the rumors and legends of Avos Dilhevia, which meant betraying Anos.

Nosgalia's true aim was retrieving Abernyu's Order of Destruction from Anos, due to him sealing the Goddess of Destruction inside of his Demon Castle Delsgade and transforming her divine power into his signature sword; Venuzdonoa. Because the lore of the Demon King of Tyranny stated that the Demon King was the owner of Delsgade, Avos Dilhevia would be able to usurp the castle from his control and steal Venuzdonoa from him in order to free Abernyu.

Misa grew up without knowing the identity of her birth parents, only the fact that her mother was a spirit and her father a demon. Her mother passed away soon after she was born, and she never knew her father. But she did learn that he was royalty, and from a rather high position at that, thus it couldn't be known that he had a mixed-blooded child.

On her tenth birthday, she received half of a demon sword, instinctively knowing that her father had the other half. She believes that the sword will one day become whole again, when royals and mixed-bloods join hands, and thus she joined Unitarians to make that happen.

Eventually, she would begin attending the Demon King Academy, where she would befriend several girls who were also Unitarians.

    Misa transforms into Avos

    Misa transforms into Avos.

Due to her nature as the Great Spirit that embodies the legend of the Demon King, Misa/Avos possesses Anos' vast power and many of his abilities, making her one of the most powerful beings in the world.[1] However, despite the fact that she draws her power from Anos' legend, she isn't his true equal due to the fact that the strength of his full power is unknown to the populace, as after being defeated by him, she stated that she couldn't see his limits when she peered into his abyss.[10]
    • Immense Magic Power: In her true form, Misa/Avos possesses a vast amount of magic power. According to Anos, her magic power is powerful enough to rival his own.[1] She demonstrated the ability to fight on par with Lay Grandsley (although Lay wasn't trying to kill her).[4]
She was later able to compete with Naga Arzenon, one of the Lions of Destruction, who are feared across the Silver Sea for their destructive power that can destroy entire countries in deep worlds.[11]
    • Immense Physical Strength: Despite her delicate frame, Misa/Avos possesses immense physical strength in her true form as she was able to restrain Lay, who himself possesses considerate physical prowess.[4]
She demonstrated the ability to easily restrain a draconoid and crush their source.[6] Misa demonstrated the ability to physically overwhelm Sylvia Arbitias, who is a powerful and physically strong Dragonborn, during their fight.
    • Spell Theory Knowledge: Due to possessing the lore of the Demon King of Tyranny, who mastered all magic, Misa can instantly develop new magic spells for her to use and enhance already existing spells. She demonstrated the ability to develop the ability to instantly develop the magic of Demera[5][12] and Delor[13].
    • Divine Power Resistance: Due to the lore that the Demon King of Tyranny is the destroyer of the gods, Misa/Avos has a strong resistance against the powers of the gods, being able to easily resist the power of Enes Ne Mes, the Keeper of Emotions, who can control emotions.[6]
However, it is shown that while resistant against the power of the gods, she isn't immune to them as she can be affected by the powers of powerful gods like Naphta[14] and Dilfred[15], though the effects of their powers are lessened in duration.

Trivia[]

  • She makes a cameo appearance at the end of Episode 1.
  • In the anime, Misa's first manifestation of her true form had lighter blue haired and six crystalline wings, as she was dressed in her Demon King Academy uniform during the Spirit Trial. In the novel, when her true form manifested, she was dressed in the midnight-blue dress that she wears as Avos Dilhevia.
  • In the anime, Avos Dilhevia is stated to be both a half-spirit/half-demon, as well as a pureblood demon. This most likely stems from her spirit power altering her to fit into the beliefs of the Royalists, who believe that the Demon King will reincarnate as a royal pure-blood demon.[23]
  • Misa/Avos Dilhevia is also partially considered a divine being due to possessing the order of the Child of God.[24]
