Lycius Engelo Gairadite (リシウス・エンゲロ・ガイラディーテ Lishiusu Engero Gairadīte?) is the 106th king of the Royal Capital Gairadite.
Appearance[]
Lycius is a skinny old man dressed in king's robes.
Personality[]
Not much of his personality was known before meeting Ahid, but afterward, Lycius became a devout follower of the Almighty Radiance. He truly believed he was bringing salvation to his people by feeding them to dragons, and he was willing to force his "salvation" onto others by letting a horde of dragons consume all of Azesion. He was deluded in believing that he was the chosen one to lead Azesion.
History[]
At some point, Cardinal Ahid Alovo Agartz approached Lycius and converted him to the religion of the Almighty Radiance. Tired of seeing his family hating and fighting each other for succession rights, Lycius "saved" them by feeding them to a white variant dragon. He believed that by offering their bodies to dragons, the messengers of the god, they would be closer to salvation and be reborn. Ahid also gave him the mission to kill Hero Kanon and obtain Evansmana, and only then will the Almighty One grant him eternal life and return him to this land as the true king of Azesion.[1]

Selection Trial Arc[]
When Lay and Misa Iliorogue finally answer his invitation, Lycius humbly asks for his help and explains that all twenty-six royals in Gairadite mysteriously fell ill. He leads them to the underground holy lake where the royals are being treated, but it's empty, and a dragon suddenly appears and restraints them with thick mucus. Lycius preaches about the salvation of humankind through the dragons and then summons the Keeper of Emotion Enes Ne Mes, who slowly enters Misa's head to possess her. However, Misa is unaffected because she enters her Avos Dilhevia form.
Out of options, he orders Enes Ne Mes to possess him instead and then allows the variant dragon to devour him. Due to the Keeper of Emotion, Lycius is able to remain conscious despite losing his source and becomes one with the dragon. As the Royal Dragon, he will devour everyone in Azesion and create a Dragonborn from their condensed sources. This newly born being will be the Great King chosen by the gods, Lycius himself.
A voice is then heard asking to be saved, which turns out to be Lycius' daughter. The mad king kept his daughter's consciousness alive, as Kanon wouldn't be able to ignore her pleas for help. However, this was a trap, as the daughter also believed in the Almighty's salvation and then absorbed Evansmana into their dragon body. Despite losing the Sword of Three Races, the couple remained confident. The pinnacle of their love resulted in Ligaro Tir Traloth, a sword of light that was able to detonate all of the sources he had consumed so far. The explosions shook the entire cavern, as the rubble buried the Royal Dragon.
Abilities[]
- Immense Magic Power: While it is unknown what level of magic power he possessed as a human, after merging with the Royal Dragon, he gained a vast amount of magic power. He claimed that due to the combination of the Royal Dragon, the sources it consumed, Enes Ne Mes and Aske, Evansmana was much more powerful in his hands that it ever was when Kanon wielded it.

- Despite having temporary ownership of Evansmana, he isn't considered a true wielder of the sword due to the fact that it didn't choose him, as he was only able to take possession of it via the power of Arcana's divine authority.
