Arzenon's Lion of Destruction (アーシェノンの滅びの獅子 Ātsenon no Horobi no Shishi?) is the strongest Phantom Beast that dwells at the bottom of the Disaster Abyss of Craving, named after the family who first discovered it, the Arzenons.[1]

History[]

As a phantom beast born of craving, the Lion of Destruction is magical being devoid of a physical body, but it's said the founder of the Arzenon family successfully incarnated the Lion in the past.[1] Dominic Arzenon also attempted it, but his failed attempts created Naga Arzenon, Bobonga Arzenon, and Kostoria Arzenon. In addition, Luna Voldigoad, whose womb was connected to the Disaster Abyss of Craving, was able to incarnate the lion through her biological child, Anos Voldigoad. None of them is the perfect Lion, but Anos is the closest to it.[2] Due to being spawned from the desires in the Abyss of Craving, the lions have an innate craving that dominates them as they cannot resist acting in accordance to it despite their own will.

A Lion of Destruction was also present during the height of Evezeino's conflict with Hayfolia. It attacked the Water Calculation World Sailaina, which prompted the creation of a weapon capable of slaying it— Evansmana, the Sword of Three Races.[3] During a later conflict, when a Hayfolian fleet launched an attack on Evezeino, the lion destroyed the Holy King Ordov Heinriel's left arm in battle.[4]

Powers and Abilities[]

Of all the cravings that stagnate at the Disaster Abyss of Craving, the craving for destruction is the strongest. The Lion of Destruction, who was born from it, possesses vast magical and destructive power.[5] It is stated that a single Lion of Destruction has the power to ravage entire countries in a deep-class world.[6] Over 17,000 years ago, a slightly protruding claw of the incorporeal lion cut the Disaster Abyss World Evezeino in half and killed many of its gods.[7]

All imperfect Lions of Destruction possess a bladed weapon called Arzenon's Claw (アーツェノンの爪 Ātsenon no Tsume?), which is extremely sharp and inflicts injuries that are difficult to heal. They possess it in order to tear into the womb of the Princess of Calamity and return to the Disaster Abyss of Craving, where they have to incarnate their missing parts.[2] The claw also has a second form, which changes depending on its user.

However, due to possessing the limited attribute of Evezeino, they are vulnerable to Evansmana, which was specifically forged to destroy them. Because of its holy power, the sword inflicts great damage on them and renders their healing ability ineffective for a significant period of time. However, the more imperfect the lion is, the less effective the sword is against them, especially if its blade is rusted, though they are still affected by it, albeit not as much.[8]

Trivia[]

  • The lion means the king of the beasts. In other words, the Lion of Destruction is the king of the phantom beasts.[5]
  • Kostoria (eyes), Bobonga (right arm), and Naga (legs) are imperfect incarnations because they only inherited certain parts of the lion.[2] The rest of their bodies do not contain the power of the lion.
    • In addition, the parts that they did inherit are still incorporeal, so they must wear prosthetics.
  • Anos is considered the closest to the perfected lion, though his constitution makes him unique among them.
    • He is the only lion not to possess Arzenon's Claw, as his claw is stuck inside the Abyss of Craving.[2]
    • He isn't dominated by a craving as he retains his own will at all times.
      • It is implied that his original craving is destruction, though he had demonstrated the ability to supress it when Parrington attempted to awaken it.
