The guen (グエン Guen?), or the divine beasts (神獣 Shinjū?), are the messengers of the gods.

Appearance[]

The guen are large beasts with silver fur, black mane, pink eyes, and sharp fangs.[1] A huge variant possesses the size of a small castle,[3] golden eyes, and a white mane instead.

Personality[]

As hunting hounds, the guen do not have sapient intelligence, so they obey their master's commands without question.

History[]

Two thousand years ago, the Heavenly Father Nosgalia hid in Aharthern with the guen before Anos raised the world walls. After his death, the hounds attacked the spirit forest and defeated its guardian, Lignon. Due to their divine nature, Shin used Gneodoros, the God Slasher to quickly dispose of them and defend the spirits.

Some of them detected Anos and his time-traveling party, so he stealthily killed them with Vebzud. To avoid creating a time paradox, Anos introduced himself as Anosh Polticoal. A larger guen appeared afterward, but Lay held it off with his bare hands before slaying it with the demon sword he received from Shin.

Nosgalia awakens

That night, Shin and the Great Spirit Reno were contacted by Eldmed Ditigeon, who had information regarding Nosgalia's whereabouts. The Conflagration King led them to a trap and was fatally wounded by Shin as a result. The attack awakened Nosgalia, who was lying inside Eldmed all this time. The Heavenly Father then summoned his hunting hounds, but they were slain by Shin all at once. In the end, Nosgalia is defeated as well.

Abilities[]

  • Divine Constitution: The divine beasts are close existences to the gods, and thus cannot be easily destroyed. Shin had to use Gneodoros, a sword that specializes in cutting divine beings, to kill them. In addition, they were able to survive Sasha's Magic Eyes of Destruction.[1]
  • Spirit Consumption: The guen are able to kill spirits by consuming their rumors and legends. When they bit Aharthern's trees, they instantly withered.[1]
  • Spirit Magic Immunity: They are not affected by spirit magic, which strengthens them instead, as demonstrated when Reno blasted them with Gigadeil. The more magic they absorbed, the bigger they grew.[1]
  • Expert Hunters: The guen are capable of tracking and pursuing their prey relentlessly.
    • Keen Senses: They possess keen senses, as they were able to detect Anos' group, which was cloaked with Lynel and had their magic hidden by Najila.

Relationships[]

Nosgalia[]

During the Mythical Age, the guen attacked the Great Spirit Forest under Nosgalia's orders in order to draw out the Great Spirit Reno. They later assisted Nosgalia in his battle against Shin Reglia.
