Golroana Delo Jiordal (ゴルロアナ・デロ・ジオルダル Goruroana Dero Jiorudaru?) is the Pope of Jiordal who worships the Almighty Radience Equis, and the "Savior" of the Selected Eight.

Appearance[]

Golroana has an androgynous face, which makes it difficult to tell his gender at a glance. His hair is neither short nor long, and his well-refined features make him both handsome and beautiful at the same time. As a member of the church, Golroana wears blue robes.[1]

Personality[]

Golroana is an overly religious individual who can be seen praying for long periods of time. Even during his battle with Anos, he never broke his stance. Even though he might've perished alongside his god, he continued praying and did not succumb to his sense of self-preservation.[2]

History[]

Golroana came from a long lineage of popes who spent the past 1,500 years praying for the world's salvation. They believed that by destroying the underground dome and bringing down the people of the surface, they would be able to achieve equality for all living beings. To this end, they used the power of Revalschned, the God of Traces, to turn the deceased Divine Dragon into a phonetic magic circle for Beherom, a greater spell that would destroy the dome.[3]

Golroana eventually became the pope and inherited his predecessors' pact with Revalschned, even before making a pact with Doldread, his own Selection God. It was finally during his reign when Beherom would be ready to be fired.[3]

Synopsis[]

Jiordal, Kingdom of the Divine Dragon Arc[]

When both Anos Voldigoad and Diedrich Kreizen Agatha come to Jiordal to meet with him, Golroana tells them to determine who will have the opportunity, as he will only listen to one of them. Anos wins and asks about Revalschned's location, but Golroana refuses because the God of Traces is dormant and won't wake until the right moment comes. However, he will reveal it if Anos hands over Arcana, whom Golroana claims to be Militia's reincarnation. When he finds out that Anos won't do it because he plans to end the Selection Trial with her, a fight begins.

Despite this, Golroana doesn't leave his praying position and uses possession summon on his Selection God. Because Doldread is a god of sound, Anos' attacks pass right through the Pope, who resurrects his predecessors to aid him. Anos kills them again, but since they are already dead, the former popes simply revive and use possession summon with Mirahi Ide Jizm, the Keepers of Sound. Anos reiterates the same offer from before but with more handicaps on himself, such as only fighting by singing, causing Golroana to accept. However, Golroana is defeated by the Anos Fan Union's song "Neighbor," which causes the former popes to waver, putting them to rest once and for all. As promised, Golroana tells Anos about Revalschned's location and becomes surprised when the Demon King chooses to spare him and his Selection God.

Because the song of the Divine Dragon is becoming increasingly louder, Golroana orders his followers to fire at the dome from different locations to divert attention. Anos realizes this and confronts Golroana, but the Pope's stubbornness leads him to be killed. Revalschned brings him back to life and then fights Anos, only to be he defeated. When Anos moves to protect the dome, Golroana reveals his hidden card: Arcana did indeed get back her memories with Revalschned's help, but she's hiding it because her real identity is Genedonov, the Goddess of Betrayal. Despite Golroana's pleas, Anos chooses to believe in his "little sister" and gives her Venuzdonoa in order to summon Leviangilma. The divine sword then makes the dome unchangeable, causing Beherom to have no effect.

The Pope attempts to take his own life due to failing to fulfill his ancestors' mission, but Anos stops him and gives him a chance to atone. Because while Golroana was misguided, he made sure there would be no casualties when destroying the dome. Anos is tired of war and wants their nations to get along. He also asks why Golroana claimed Arcana to be Militia but suddenly notices something inside the Pope. He cuts off Golroana's arm, revealing a parasite-like dragon, which the Pope recognizes as Gadeciola's Supreme Dragon. Anos attempts to remove it, but it keeps multiplying. They manage to hold him long enough for wings to grow out of Golroana and fly away.

Anos Voldigoad[]

Due to their religious differences, the two leaders couldn't reach an agreement. While Anos wanted peace and for the Pope to guarantee Dilhade's safety, Golroana couldn't do so because he wouldn't be able to disobey the gods if they commanded him to attack. He also tells Anos that they will never join hands with the people from above, as they never experienced the harsh living conditions that forced them to turn to the gods in the first place.[2]
