The Mystery of the Hero Academy (勇者学院の謎, Yūsha Gakuin no Nazo^?) is the ninth episode of The Misfit of Demon King Academy anime series.

Synopsis

After the Magic Sword Tournament, Anos and the other students visit Azesion in the Human Realm for educational exchange with the Hero Academy. While they individually explore the city, Anos heads to the Hero Academy saying that he wants to research something. The academy is off-limits to outsiders, but he tries to make his way inside without hesitation. Eleanor Bianca, a third-year student at the Hero Academy, appears before Anos and says, "You'll be safe as long as you're with me", with a mischievous smile. She acts as Anos' guide inside the academy.

Summary

Two thousand years ago, Hero Kanon was confronted by Anos in front of the capital city of Gairadite. Despite Kanon's belief that Anos wanted to invade the capital, Anos' intentions were to talk with Kanon. Anos requested that their war end, claiming Humanity isn't the only side that desires peace. As Anos explained the motive behind his plea, Jerga unsuccessfully attacked Anos who quickly defended himself with a barrier. While attempting to break Anos' barrier, Jerga proclaimed that was Anos lying about his peace talks and that he'd avenge the death of his loved ones. Moments after Jerga forcefully destroyed Anos' barrier, he's mortally wounded by him and claims that Humans killed his mother. Before teleporting out of the area, Anos extends an invitation to Kanon, noting if he's interested in his offer to visit him at Castle Delsgade. Although mortally wounded, Jerga assures Kanon that he's fine and should not trust the Demons, as coexistence between the two races is impossible. Understanding Jerga's plea, Kanon heads off, leaving Jerga to his demise.

In present times, as Sasha exits her estate, she runs into Anos and Misha. As they chat, they're joined by Lay and Misa.

At school, Meno Historia introduces herself as their new temporary homeroom teacher to the students of Class 3-1. She then announces that within three weeks, inter-academy classes will be held. The third-year and that first-year class will represent their school, and its venue will be Azesion's Hero Academy Arclaniska in the Human Realm. Curious about what Heroes are, Meno teaches her students the history behind Heroes, and Anos chimes in with his personal knowledge about said subject.

After class, Anos tutors Lay, Misha, and Sasha during their independent study on improving their respective magic and skills.

That evening, Anos' receives a report from Melheis about Ydor and Gaios' condition and his suspicions surrounding the Hero Academy. Later, Anos' shows Lay his sword collection within his Treasure Vault, and after being offered one, Lay takes an interest in the Unique Sword Sigshesta. After hearing Amos' explanation behind the sword and trying it out, Lay decides to take it.

On the day of the event, Meno speaking through an Owl, states that the students must navigate themselves to the Hero Academy. Nevertheless, Anos makes things easier for himself and his friends by instantly teleporting them all to the academy. With extra time on their hands, Anos accompanied by Misha, investigates the academy.

Upon arriving at the academy gate, they're met by third-year Eleonore Bianca who, after learning their motives, offers to show them the academy library. There Eleonore claimed that Kanon was the one who erected the walls that divided the four areas two thousand years ago. This strikes a nerve with Misha, but Anos stops her and asks Eleonore the name of the Demon Lord, and she answers Avos Dilhevia. She then mentions the elite class of heroes named Jerga-Kanon. Hearing besmirching remarks from Anos, Jerga-Kanon member Ledriano Kanon Azeschen and Laos Kanon Jilfor appears before them. Immediately, Laos attacks Anos' who easily overwhelms him, and Ledriano stops any further conflict between the two.

Outside, Eleonore informs Anos that Kanon was murdered two thousand years ago, by a Human.
