Elio Ludwell (エリオ・ルードウェル Erio Rūdoweru?) is the Demon Lord of Midhaze, and the father of Emilia and Kurt.
Appearance[]
Like the rest of his family, Elio has purple hair. He also has a facial scar that goes across his nose.
Personality[]
Elio is honorable and doesn't discriminate against non-royals. He was quick to accept that the Demon King had reincarnated into a mixed-blood demon, a fact that other royals struggle with, and even helped wounded human soldiers evacuate. Though initially hostile against humans due to the war, Elio changed his mind after Eleonore saved him and his troops on multiple occasions.
In addition, he was also shown to be wise and honorable. Instead of seeking revenge for the Demon King, he honored his final request and withdrew. After the war, Elio abandoned all traces of "royal pride", if any, and became devoted to the Demon King's will. He followed his master in abolishing the segregation between the purebloods and hybrids.
History[]
Elio is the Demon Lord overseeing Midhaze, a prosperous city in the demon kingdom of Dilhade. It is believed that he built the reputable Lognorth Magic Hospital with his own money, but in reality, he did so under the threat of an unidentified demon.[2] Acting as his frontman, Elio coerced Lay into serving the Royalists in exchange for his mother's treatment.
Synopsis[]
Hero Academy Arc[]
When the Demon King Avos Dilhevia reappeared to declare war on Azesion, Elio was one of the many demons who cheered for his return. By dawn, he was leading his troops towards the Tola Forest, a vast forest spanning across both nations. After Avos is revealed to be a fake, Elio witnesses the real Demon King, Anos Voldigoad, being slain by the Hero Kanon. As the captain of the advance unit, he was the closest to retaliating against the human army, but he honors Anos' final request and withdraws his troops.
However, Commander Diego of the human forces wanted to prolong the war until all the demons were dead, so he orders the ten thousand Zeshias to self-destruct and wipe out the demon army. Eleonore Bianca stops this and protects Elio's troops, surprising him as she wasn't a demon and had no reason to defend them. Eleonore and Lay eventually stop Diego, but his anger and hatred lead him to cast Aske and resurrect Jerga. When Jerga fires a bombardment of Teo Triath, Eleonore protects them once again. Elio asks her why, and she replies that the war is already over and that she never held a grudge against them. Her actions cause Elio to begin trusting in humans, so he helps the injured human soldiers evacuate into their underground demon king castle.
After Anos defeats Jerga, Elio acknowledges Anos as the real Demon King of Tyranny and kneels before him with his troops. He then asks Anos to punish him as atonement for his negligence, but Anos replies that he won't punish those who admit their mistakes and settles it with Elio serving him for the rest of his life.
Great Spirit Arc[]
Upon the awakening of the Great Spirit Avos Dilhevia, Dilhade became under her complete control, and unlike most of the royals in Dilhade, Elio and a few of his men weren't influenced by Avos Dilhevia as they completely believed that Anos was their true founding ancestor. Through their assistance, Anos and his followers could get back inside Dilhade without being noticed. After the Demon King Reordination Ceremony, Elio was one of several high officials, including the Seven Demon Elders, who supported the abolishment of the nobility system and supported the egalitarianism of both the Royals and the Hybrids.

- High Magic Power: As a prominent demon lord, he has a large amount of magic power, seeing as how he was assigned to lead an entire division of demon troops to the battlefield against the Demon King Subjugation Army.
Relationships[]
Anos Voldigoad[]
Anos is Elio's master. Upon recognizing him as the true Demon King of Tyranny, Elio knelt before Anos and asked to be punished for his ignorance. Despite his objections, Anos generously forgave Elio because he admitted his own mistakes and, instead, had him become his subordinate in order to redeem himself. In time, Elio became one of Anos' most trusted Magical Age followers as he didn't waver in aiding him against the Great Spirit Avos Dilhevia nor in supporting his master's abolishment of the nobility system.
Emilia Ludwell[]
Emilia is Elio's daughter. It's unknown what became of their relationship after she reincarnated as a hybrid or if he's aware of it. But it's very likely that he still very much loves her, given how Anos abolished the segregation of mixed-bloods, and now that she changed for the better and became greatly favored by Anos.
Kurt Ludwell[]
Kurt is Elio's son. It's unknown what their relationship is, but most likely, he's incredibly proud of his son thanks to his accomplishments in the Lognorth Demon Sword Association. He holds him in extremely high regard as he was once considered to be the most powerful swordsman in Dilhade.
