Divine Dragon (神竜 Shinryū?) was a dragon worshipped by Jiordal, whose song could be heard throughout the kingdom. In reality, the song of the Divine Dragon was the Divine Dragon itself, a dragon made of sound.[1]
Appearance[]
The Divine Dragon has the appearance of an extremely long white dragon with two horns and no limbs.
History[]
The Divine Dragon was a dragon that has existed since Jiordal's foundation, with its song resounding throughout the kingdom all this time. However, no one had seen it except for the popes of each era and the gods they formed pacts with.[2]
When the dragon passed away, the God of Traces Revalschned continued to leave traces of the Divine Dragon's song in its place. The song, which created a disruptive magic field, protected the kingdom from invasions by preventing the enemies from gathering information.[3]
However, the song of the Divine Dragon served another more important purpose. Countless generations of popes worked to turn the Divine Dragon into a phonetic magic circle for Beherom, a mighty projectile that would destroy the dome and bring down the people of the surface to the underground, thereby bringing true equality to all living beings. While the spell had been active for more than a thousand years, it wouldn't be ready to be fired until Golroana's reign.[4]
Synopsis[]
Jiordal, Kingdom of the Divine Dragon Arc[]
When Anos brings Class 1-2 to Jiordal, the Anos Fan Union notices a faint humming in the air, so Arcana explains that it is the song of the Divine Dragon.
The song becomes increasingly louder as time passes, so Pope Golroana orders his followers to blast the dome to mask the noise. While Anos is thinking about Golroana's reason for doing that, he notices Naya's cannibalistic pet dragon eating the empty air and then vanishing. Because the song disappeared and Cannibal became invisible, Anos realizes that the Divine Dragon was the song itself. The singing soon resumes, as Cannibal only ate a tiny portion of the dragon.
Anos eventually finds Golroana, who reveals his plan to destroy the dome and bring true equality between the surface dwellers and the underground people. The Pope is adamant about completing his mission, so Anos is forced to kill him. However, he is resurrected by Revalschned, causing Anos to fight him. The Demon King emerges victorious, but Beherom was already fired during their battle. Nevertheless, Anos uses Leviangilma to make the dome unchangeable, causing Beherom to be repelled as the song of the Divine Dragon disappears.
Abilities[]
- Song of the Divine Dragon: Similar to the domain produced by a dragon's cry, the Divine Dragon created a disruptive magic field with its song. Since the song covered the entire kingdom, it was difficult to see inside with Magic Eyes and use long-distance spells such as Gatom and Leaks.[3]
- Phonetic Magic Circle Activation: A phonetic magic circle is a magic circle that is activated based on pitch, volume, and rhythm. Because the Divine Dragon itself was a song, it could activate a phonetic magic circle incessantly.[4]
