Anos.1 SPOILER ALERT:This page contains unmarked spoilers from the light novel/web novel. Read at your own discretion.

I don't care. If not knowing is the only way to reach a better future, then that is better. In the end, it's only the difference between being late and being early.
— Diedrich to Anos Voldigoad

Diedrich Kreizen Agatha (ディードリッヒ・クレイツェン・アガハ Dīdorihhi Kureitsuen Agaha?) is the Sword Emperor who reigns over Agatha, the land of knights, as well as the "Prophet" of the Selected Eight.

Appearance[]

Diedrich is a large man wearing crimson armor. His hair is on the longer side, and it is green on top but gray on the sides. He has red eyes, a neatly trimmed beard, and pointy ears.

Personality[]

Diedrich is a rather carefree man who has a smile on his face most of the time and pleasantly enjoys the Anos Fan Union's songs. However, he can be serious when needed, as shown during his fight with Anos. Even though there are futures that can't be changed no matter what, Diedrich will still challenge them, as there's no point in prophecies otherwise.[2]

History[]

Diedrich is dragonborn that was conceived by the Royal Dragon.

Synopsis[]

Jiordal, Kingdom of the Divine Dragon Arc[]

Diedrich stopping Ahid

Diedrich captures Ahid.

Due to Cardinal Ahid stealing Agatha's Royal Dragon, Diedrich travels to Jiordal to hold the Pope accountable. However, he sees a future in which greeting Anos Voldigoad will lead him to the pope, so he meets with the Demon King first. After introducing himself and explaining his future sight, Diedrich helps Anos capture the rogue cardinal and bring him to Pope Golroana, who excommunicates Ahid and permits Agatha to punish him as they see fit.

Diedrich also requests to see the scriptures passed down among popes in exchange for the ones passed down among sword emperors, but because Anos has a request as well, Golroana asks them to settle the matter between themselves first. They decide to fight each other's Selection God and see how long they can last, but Anos easily defeats Naphta, as does Diedrich with Arcana. However, he decides to step down since there would be no point in a draw.

Diedrich taking Ahid with him

Diedrich about to leave.

Anos becomes interested in the kingdom of an honorable man like Diedrich, so Diedrich welcomes him to visit. Before leaving, he reveals the identity of the god that originally chose Anos for the Selection TrialMilitia, the Goddess of Creation. He also advises the Demon King to kill the Pope if they fight, or he'll risk putting Dilhade in danger. Anos thanks him for the information, but he'll choose his own path.

Abilities[]

  • Immense Magic Power: As a dragonborn, Diedrich possesses an immense amount of magic power that is nearly comparable to the gods. He was able to fight against Arcana before overwhelming her,[2] and even hold his own against Anos in direct combat. His magic power can further increase dramatically after using Azept to channel Naphta's divine power into himself.
  • Immense Physical Strength: As a dragonborn, he possesses a great degree of physical strength, as he was able to compete against Anos in a hand-to-hand battle for an extended period of time. His natural strength allowed him to detain Ahid, who couldn't shake him off even when borrowing the strength of a dragon.[3]
  • Master Swordsman: Diedrich demonstrated excellent swordsmanship skills during his duel with Anos.

Relationships[]

Naphta[]

Naphta has been at Diedrich's side for as long as he can remember. Supporting him, guiding him, and being there for him in general. She carries the burden of seeing the future until the end of the underground world. Diedrich wanted to do something for Naphta and show her that the eyes that she bestowed upon them could see a bright future too, and that he would lead them to it.

Anos Voldigoad[]

Diedrich sees Anos as an entertaining individual, knowing very well that he is above his league. He owes Anos a huge debt for showing them a future they deemed futile.

Ricardo Arbitias[]

One of his most trusted and loyal confidants who he treasures deeply. He has high hopes that Ricardo will someday stand among the heroes who will protect Agatha.
