Maou Gakuin Wiki

The Demon Lords (魔皇 Maō?) govern the different districts of Dilhade.[1]

History[]

The Demon King Academy was founded to train future demon lords among the Demon King's descendants, with the Seven Demon Elders personally teaching the first-generation demon lords.[2] However, students also needed to prove themselves with actual results, such as winning the Demon Sword Tournament.[3]

While the academy is open to all of Anos' descendants, only royal demons who kept his bloodline pure can graduate into these positions. As a result, Dilhade is controlled by the royal faction despite being a minority.[4]

During the Demon King Reordination Ceremony, Anos informed a crowd of his descendants, that he was unsuited for government but to his pride, the country had many excellent Demon Lords who maintained the peace in their cities and there was no need for an antiquated Demon King to interfere. Thus, he placed the responsibility of running Dilhade to the suited Demon Lords. After Anos abolished the segregation of demons with the support of several high officials and the Seven Demon Elders, a new order of egalitarianism was established between the royal and the mixed-blood demons. As a result, there are no longer distinctions between the two, which most likely meant that now even mixed-blood demons can become Demon Lords.

Trivia[]

  • The title of "Demon King" is reserved for Anos alone, so they are named "Demon Lords" instead.[6]
  • The English subs of the Anime mislabeled Leorg Indu as a demon lord, when his title is much closer to Great Demon (魔大帝 Ma taitei?).
