The Demon King Subjugation Battalion (魔王討伐軍 Maō Tōbatsu-Gun?) is the main battalion of Gairadite, the human capital city.
History[]
During the Mythical Age, the Demon King Subjugation Battalion was considered the most elite and powerful human army in the human continent of Azesion, which was specifically formed as a response to the rise of the Demon King Anos Voldigoad. Their objective was to defeat him and bring peace to the world. Jerga, the ruler of Gairadite, took temporary charge of the battalion as its commander until a more suitable leader was appointed.
Originally, the Hero Kashim was meant to be selected as the battalion's leader due to his great swordsmanship skill and command over holy magic. However, due to the fact that he was incapable of wielding the legendary holy sword Evansmana; his junior comrade, the Hero Kanon, was chosen instead due to his ability to wield it. Blinded by jealousy, Kashim began to stir up unrest within the battalion during the height of the Great War. After discovering Kashim's betrayal, his mentor Jerga and Kanon confronted him, and he admitted the truth before fleeing and tarnishing the reputation of the heroes. The two eventually cornered him and tried to get him to stop, but Kashim refused, and a battle broke out in which he was supposedly killed.
During the Great War, Kanon would lead the Demon King Subjugation Battalion against the Demon King Anos and his army, as the two would continuously clash while their armies would battle each other.
Towards the end of the Great War, Anos visited Gairadite to invite Kanon to his castle Delsgade, where they would discuss about peacefully ending the war. During their conversation, Anos was attacked by Jerga, who urged Kanon not to listen to the Demon King. The members of the battalion empowered Jerga with Asura and Aske, but Anos was easily able to defeat Jerga by piercing his insides with his hand. Anos then told Kanon to come so they could talk further.[1]
Synopsis[]
Hero Academy Arc[]
During the Inter-Academy Exam with the Demon King Academy, the Hero Kanon's holy sword, Evansmana, was stolen by Avos Dilhevia and three members of the Seven Elder Demon Emperors. In response, Azesion declared war on Dilhade, with the Demon King Subjugation Battalion serving as their main fighting force. Diego Ijeiska was appointed as the leader, while the mass-produced Zeshia clones were drafted into the battalion to increase its power.
However, both the Demon King Subjugation Battalion and the demon army were prevented from clashing by the casting of Beno Ievun, as after the wall came down, they witness the Demon King being killed by the reincarnated Hero Kanon, as he urged the Subjugation Battalion to stand down and not continue to fight the demon army due to the fact that the Demon King was dead. However, Diego wanted to continue the war, as he attacked the retreating demons and even cut off his second-in-commands arm when he protested his actions. As the Subjugation Battalion began retreat to Gairadite, Diego used the magic of Jerga to summon the spectre of Jerga, who had transformed himself into holy magic. Jerga then forcibly drained the hope of the Subjugation Battalion and the rest of Azesion in order to empower himself to fight against Lay and the resurrected Anos, as the soldiers of the battalion fell into unconsciousness from having their hope drained. The fallen human solders were then carried away to safety of a newly-constructed Demon King Castle by the demon soldiers, who were inspired to follow Anos' path of peace after realizing that he was the one true Demon King. The humans soldiers of the Subjugation Battalion, along with the rest of Azesion were able to reawaken when Lay and Anos were able to reverse the effects of Aske to turn the magic power that was created back into hope.
