| — Ceris to Graham in "The Fight of the Nameless Knights" |
Ceris Voldigoad (セリス・ヴォルディゴード Serisu Vorudigōdo?) was the father of Anos Voldigoad's previous incarnation.
Appearance[]
Ceris Voldigoad is a tall, handsome man with an above average physical build. He has purple hair, green eyes, and wears a long, black cloak.
Personality[]
Ceris is a stoic man who dedicated himself to his mission of ending the war between the demons and other races as well as overturning the natural destruction of his world.
He would come across as ruthless to his enemies or those that did not know him very well, but it is shown that he deeply cared about his comrades despite his stoic demeanor.
History[]
14,000 years ago, in the timeline of the Silver Water Holy Sea, Ceris was active as the leader of the Phantom Knights, who was trying to find a way to avert the world's destruction or at least grasp hope of a new life for his comrades in the future world. To this end, he started working in a unique magic called Syrica, which would allow the person it is used on to be reborn in a new life. At some point in the past, he became acquainted with the Goddess of Creation Elenesia, whom he considered an ally in attempting to avert the world's demise. While investigating the movements of human soldiers, he came across and saved Luna Arzenon, who fell to their bubble world.
He offered to cooperate with Elenesia as her Selected for the Selection Trial in exchange for her cooperation in helping him complete Syrica, but she told him that completing Syrica would be impossible, though she did agree to assist him, as she left him a Selection pledge jewel and disappeared. Deciding to take in Luna, who had nowhere to go, Ceris resumed his research of Syrica as he knew that the destruction of the world was soon approaching and that he didn't have enough time to save everyone so he tried to apply it to the members of the Phantom Knights in order to reincarnate them and bring the spell to perfection. As the world was near its end, Luna urged him to use Syrica on her, as she believed that Evansmana, the Sword of Three Races, would sever the fate of the Phantom Knights' destruction and allow Syrica to be perfected and become a part of the new world's order, Ceris obliged and used it on her and then eventually himself. Due to the power of Evansmana, Syrica was included as part of the new world's order of the Four Principles.
After reincarnating, Ceris reformed the Phantom Knights in the Militia World, and recruited all the members who were from the Elenesia world but managed to reincarnate, among them being the First, whom he took in after his parents abandoned him, as he continued to destroy malevolent demons and humans for the sake of the world. Eventually, he would meet the reincarnated Luna Arzenon, whom he saved after she and her family were attacked by a mysterious doll, which Ceris destroyed.
At some point, Ceris married Luna and fathered a child with her who carried the power of the Voldigoad bloodline. After wiping out the Hero Graham and his squad, Ceris led his Phantom Knights to the Tseilon village, where the rest of Graham's men were. Though he found humans torturing Luna, Ceris deduced that it was a trap and told the Phantom Knights to canvas their surroundings instead, much to his disciple Jeph's anger. His inaction would force their unborn child to protect Luna instead, but somehow Graham reappeared and fatally wounded her. Despite killing Graham again, Ceris was unable to save her, nor comfort her in her final moments. Luna herself understood this and told Jeph that it was fine, she was happy.
Suspecting that Graham was not truly gone, Ceris began tracking down the rogue human and eventually found him. Even though the Phantom Knights were quickly eliminated, with the exception of the Jeph, their sacrifice allowed Ceris to ready his ultimate spell, Ravia Neold Galvarizen. However, Graham correctly identified Ceris' only weakness and took Jeph hostage, forcing him to cancel his spell and pierce Jeph's eye instead. This triggered his disciple's latent abilities, causing him to teleport away as Graham cut several of Ceris' limbs. Despite this, Ceris made a last stand against Graham and nearly killed him. The great lightning began burning away Graham's body as Ceris' own head went flying. He tried to use Ingall but was unable to cast any magic, so Graham quickly snatched his head and attached his own body, revitalizing it and finally becoming Ceris Voldigoad.
After Graham teleported away, the Goddess of Creation Militia appeared and healed Ceris, including recreating his missing head. However, because most of his source was taken by Graham, Ceris could only exist for a short while with his consciousness alone. As a reward for fighting to create a peaceful world, Militia granted him one final wish, so he requested that she remove Anos' memories of him, as Anos was on the cusp of realizing Ceris' true identity and would be consumed by revenge if he were to find out his father was killed. As he revealed his true feelings for the first time, Ceris' source reached its limit and disappeared from the world.
Abilities[]
- Source of Destruction: As a member of the Voldigoad bloodline, Ceris possesses a unique source specializing in destruction, as he was stated to be the most powerful member of his bloodline until Anos was born. According to the Goddess of Creation Elenesia, his strength surpasses the power of the gods, as he was labeled a "misfit" who defied the order of the gods. The power of his source would further increase the closer he got to his own destruction.[1]
- Immense Magic Power: Due to his source, Ceris possessed a vast amount of magical power that surpassed various "king class demons" and even the gods. He easily defeated the Hero Graham with just a single blast from Ravia Neold Galvarizen, despite the hero being strengthened by Aske and armed with Lorostalma, the Sword of Divine Protection; in addition to having the Goddess of Barriers Linorolos protecting him with a barrier powerful enough to survive the destruction of the world.[2] Ceris was also capable of fighting on par against Graham, another misfit who surpassed the gods in power, and only lost because Graham took a hostage, which allowed him to land several fatal attacks on Ceris. According to Luna Arzenon, Ceris was as powerful as an inhabitant of a deep world despite being the inhabitant of a bubble world.[1]
- Destruction Magic Affinity: Due to his Source of Destruction, Ceris possessed a great affinity for destruction magic. His signature self-developed destruction spells, Ravia Gieg Gaverizd and Ravia Neold Galvarizen, have demonstrated immense destructive capability and even the ability to easily kill gods if they are hit by it. They are comparable in power to the deep magic of the Silver Water Holy Sea.

- Master Swordsman: Ceris is a very proficient swordsman, as he was able to wield his signature weapon Gauddigemon, the Sword of a Thousand Bolts, with great skill. He was able to fight on par with Graham who was wielding Bephengzdogma, and hold his own against him. He was also capable of using Gauddigemon's Hidden Art.
- Spell Theory Knowledge: Ceris possessed great understanding and knowledge in magic and the development of magic spells. He was able to develop Veneziara, a probability spell that was able to counter the Red Thread, a divine power of a Chief God from a deep world. In addition, he was able to develop Syrica, a reincarnation spell that allows the person it is used on to reincarnate, with the possibility of retaining all of their powers and memories in a new life, as stable methods of reincarnation are unheard of even in the Silver Water Holy Sea.

Relationships[]
Anos Voldigoad[]
Ceris' son, but he was absent most of Anos' life. He saw Anos' talent and power early, as well as his potential to unify Dilhade and lead it to a better future. For this reason, he left to eliminate any demon who could pose a threat to Anos' rise as the ruler of demons. While he visited Anos dozens of times, he seemed aloof and never revealed their blood relation to continue his mission. While dying, he asked Militia to erase him from Anos' mind in order to prevent him from seeking revenge against Graham, which would set back his mission to bring peace to the world. As he began to disappear, he revealed his true thoughts and admonished himself for not being there for Anos and that he was despondent that he couldn't do a single fatherly thing for him.
Luna Voldigoad[]
He loved his wife dearly. While it seemed that Ceris didn't care about her death, it was later revealed that he always regretted not being able to save and protect her due to playing the role of a phantom. He blamed his own foolishness as the reason why Anos didn't grow up with a mother.[7]
Their first meeting in the Elenesia World was tumultuous. Despite saving her from the phantom beasts that came with her, Ceris called her a fool for keeping the beasts that attacked her. The two exchanged words, with Ceris seemingly being harsh to her, though Jeph commented that Ceris actually took a liking to her. She followed Ceris and joined the Phantom Knights, eventually developing feelings for him, while he seemed indifferent to her. However, it was revealed that he kept his distance because the world was coming to an end, and he wanted her to save herself. They were able to reincarnate in the Militia World and met again after Luna's parents were killed, with Ceris asking her to have his child.
Aeges Code[]
Jeph was Ceris' first disciple, right-hand man, and most trusted subordinate. Ceris recruited him after he was abandoned by his parents and allowed him to join the Phantom Knights, with Jeph harboring a great deal of respect and loyalty to Ceris. However, he would often disagree with Ceris about certain topics, such as Ceris' apparent apathy towards his family, while Ceris would reprimand him for letting his emotions cloud his judgment.
While he seemingly discharged Jeph after Bomiras Helos revealed that he was the Netherworld King Aeges Code, thus violating his oath as a Phantom Knight, Ceris was truly hoping that Aeges would notice his true intentions and choose to live his own life. Ceris saved Aeges by attacking his source and anticipating that it would warp Aeges away from the battlefield, telling him that in a peaceful era, phantoms wouldn't be needed but Aeges had the life of a king, thus saving his disciple's life at the cost of his own.
Their bond was shown to be very strong in the Elenesia World, as Aeges was willing to willingly subject himself to being a test subject for Ceris' Syrica research, while Ceris' acknowledged his loyalty and resolve.
Graham[]
Ceris once destroyed Graham but continued to pursue him after learning of his survival. While Ceris was seemingly indifferent about Graham killing his wife Luna, it is revealed that Ceris harbored immense hatred towards him but was forced to contain his feelings to avoid making mistakes.
Elenesia
The two were acquaintances and allies while Ceris was a resident of the Elenesia World, as Ceris had great deal of faith in her abilities as evidenced by the fact that he requested her help in completing Syrica. Despite Luna's worries about them being lovers, the relationship between the two was strictly a platonic friendship.

Trivia[]
- "Isith" is an ancient word of the demon race, which meant "commander".[8]
- Ceris was virtually unknown during the Mythical Age, as few were even aware of the existence of the Phantom Knights, let alone the fact that he was Anos' father.[9]
- Ceris was a resident of the Elenesia World prior to being reincarnated as a resident of the Militia World.[1]
- Elenesia also made a pact to fight as Ceris' God of Selection for the Selection Trial, similar to how Militia made Anos her Selected for the Selection Trial.[10]
- Ceris is also considered a "Misfit" who defied the order of the gods, similar to his son Anos.[1]
- Luna couldn't feel any cravings from Ceris, and it was shown that he possessed such strong willpower that Phantom Beasts could not possess him.[1]
- Ceris is the creator of the Syrica spell, which was originally developed in the Elenesia World[11] but became part of the Militia World upon its creation due to Evansmana's power, which was trapped in Luna Arzenon's womb, severing fate of Syrica being incompatible with order.[12]
- It is theorized that the reason Ceris was as strong as a deep-world inhabitant is due to his Source of Destruction working in conjunction with the Elenesia World's gradual collapse.[1]
