Azesion (アゼシオン Azeshion?) is the human continent.
History[]
During the late stages of the Great War, Azesion was invaded by the unified demon army. The royal capital of Gairadite, where the Demon King Subjugation Battalion was based, became humanity's last remaining stronghold.[2] Meanwhile the rest of the continent fell, as they didn't count with the Hero Kanon's protection.[3]
Years after the end of the war, the Hero Academy was founded to train students in beneficial subjects. After graduating, they would contribute to the development of the nation. For this purpose, ten percent of Azesion's total taxes go toward funding the academy.[4] However, the truth is that they are trained for combat in preparation for the Demon King's return.
Rulers[]
Despite being called a nation, Azesion is actually an alliance of smaller countries, and the king who controlled Gairadite represented all of them.[5] However, after the death of the Gairadite Royal Family, Azesion became a republic with a council,[6] the Heroic Parliament.[7]
Name | Ruler | Status | Parliament Member |
---|---|---|---|
Royal Capital Gairadite | King Lycius Engelo Gairadite | Inactive | Council Headquarters |
Inzuel Empire | Emperor Shaps Inzuel | Active | No |
Legrand | King Shival | Active | Yes |
Porthos | King Enrique | Active | Yes |
Nebrahilie | King Catenas | Active | Yes |
Culture[]
The Deepest Darkness[]
Everyone in Azesion is aware of the "deepest darkness," a legend that was spread throughout the continent by graduates of the Hero Academy. Said darkness would descend again to engulf Azesion, but by offering prayers and hope to the legendary hero, he will return to dispel it. In reality, the legend was a euphemism for the Demon King, which would allow Jerga to steal people's hopes and empower himself with Aske.
Michens Necklace[]
During the Mythical Age, the necklaces were trinkets that humans gifted their lovers before they departed for war. The shell of a michens shellfish from the Gairadite Lake would be broken in half to craft two necklaces, one for the soldier and the other for their lover. The shellfish were said to be messengers of the gods, and lovers believed that the split shell would guide their wandering sources after death, leading to their reunion.[3]
When the lovers pass away, their necklaces are placed in a shrine, which becomes a signpost for the reincarnated to reunite. In some cases, relatives or descendants come to collect the belongings of the deceased.[8]
When the Great War ended, soldiers wearing michens necklaces began returning home and marrying their lovers. Since then, the michens necklace became known as the "one-shell necklace", and the tradition of proposing to one's lover by splitting a one-shell necklace in two emerged.[3]
Something Four[]
The Something Four (サムシング・フォー Samushingu Fō?) is a tradition that appeared after the war. If a bride wears four items associated with the Gairadite Lake, she will be blessed with happiness:[9]
- Something Old (サムシング・オールド Samushingu Ōrudo?) like a royal bracelet containing gemstones made by turning the holy water of the lake into jewels.
- Something New (サムシング・ニュー Samushingu Nyū?) like new earrings made with pearls from the lake.
- Something Borrowed (サムシング・ボロード Samushingu Borōdo?) like a Michens Necklace from a friend.
- Something Blue (サムシング・ブルー Samushingu Burū?) like a handkerchief made with cotton that grew on the waters of the lake.
Cities[]
Royal Capital Gairadite[]
The capital of the human continent, which is located at the center of Azesion. During the Mythical Age, it housed the headquarters of the Demon King Subjugation Battalion. As such, it was a military city filled with various anti-demon circles and weapons in case of a surprise attack.
Inzuel Empire[]
An empire to the west of Gairadite, with whom they maintained friendly relations for a millennium.[10] When "Avos Dilhevia" attacked the temple where the Holy Mother was hidden, one of Diego's subordinates feared it might've been an attack from Inzuel.[10]
Veroniez & Nadelonica[]
Two cities Anos completely destroyed during the Mythical Age, leaving no survivors.[11]
Gedde[]
Fortress City Gedde (城塞都市ゲーデ Jōsai Toshi Gēde?) was a stronghold that Camus Anfas failed to capture during the Great War. The city stood between the demon army and the Holy City Karnstein.[12]
Karnstein[]
Holy City Karnstein (聖都市カーンシュタイン Hijiri Toshi Kānshutain?) was a military city near the border with Dilhade.[12] The city prospered under Saintess Aria's holy barrier, which kept large armies of demons away, so many people gathered there. The city sustained great damage due to the attack of Demon King Anos.[13]
Lauhan[]
Rural Town Lauhan (田舎町ラウハン Inakamachi Rauhan?) was the hometown of both Camus and Aria, Izabella's ancestors. The town was inland, far away from the border with Dilhade, so the embers of war hadn't reached there.
Landscapes[]
Tola Forest[]
A vast forest that spans across Dilhade and Azesion, effectively serving as the border of both countries. Towards the Azesion side, there is a large section of open grassland.[14]
Enora Meadow[]
A grassy meadow sixty kilometers southwest of Gairadite.[15] Multiple dragons nested below the meadows, and it was the starting point for the dragon invasion of Gairadite.
Ledon Desert[]
A desert two hundred kilometers east of Gairadite. Eldmed Ditigeon had his students practice fighting dragons here.[16]
Trinos Plain[]
A plain that lies thirty kilometers away from Gairadite, from which it connects through a canal that was used to transport holy water to the frontlines. The Trinos Plain is situated between Gairadite and the Enora Meadow.[17]

Trivia[]
- The magic field in the skies above Azesion is highly unstable, so it is recommended not to fly there.[18]
