Ahid Alovo Agartz (アヒデ・アロボ・アガーツェ Ahide Arobo Agātsue?) is the former Cardinal of Jiordal, and the Oracle of the Selected Eight. He is currently captured by Agatha.

Appearance[]

Ahid is a rather tall man with an average build. He has green eyes, black fingernails, and ears characteristic of the Draconid race. His hair is green with white ends, and it is long enough to cover the right side of his face.

He wears white robes with golden accents, gray pants, and white shoes.

Personality[]

Ahid is a man of faith who serves and worships the Almighty Radiance, Equis. He believes the gods to be almighty and perfect beings, and it is incomprehensible to him that Anos can be stronger than the gods. To him, gods represent the concept of eventual salvation, as they are all agents of the Almighty Radiance.[2] Everything can be traced back to him, even Hero Kanon saving humanity, as Evansamana was blessed by the gods, and is therefore blessed by Equis.[3]

However, in reality, Ahid is a crook who will lie on the spot and proclaim it to be the word of god. For the sake of winning the Selection Trial, he will even sacrifice his own followers and convince them they are dying for a noble cause. He is truly irredeemable, as he will go against the wishes of his own god and ask for her forgiveness later. He isn't loyal to the gods but covets their power instead.[4]

History[]

At some point, Ahid was chosen by the goddess Arcana and joined the Selection Trial, earning the title of Oracle. When he learned that the king of demons, Anos Voldigoad, was also chosen for the Selection Trial, Ahid made plans to defeat him in order to get closer to victory.

He began his plan by contacting Zamira Engelo, who introduced him to King Lycius Engelo Gairadite.[5] Ahid successfully converted the human king to Jiordal's religion by promising him eternal life and regal power.[3] His plan was to have Lycius kill Hero Kanon and retrieve Evansmana whilst feeding the people of Gairadite to dragons so they could birth more of their draconid brethren.[6] Ahid sought to do the same in Midhaze by taking advantage of the Resistance's hatred for Anos and giving them a powerful dragon to aid their cause.

Synopsis[]

Selection Trial Arc[]

Ahid stalks Anos Voldigoad during his second educational exchange with the Hero Academy. When discovered, he introduces himself and then summons his Selection God, Arcana. He tells Anos to do the same, unaware it was all new to him. Because Anos doesn't move, Arcana summons Altiertonoa, the Moon of Creation, and uses it to encase Anos' body in ice. She gives him one last chance to summon his god, but Anos easily breaks free and causes Ahid to look around, as he couldn't possibly break free without another god's power. Since the goddess would be difficult to defeat, Anos targets Ahid instead and destroys his source, but Arcana uses Altiertonoa to recreate it. Anos then attempts to fire Jio Graze, but Arcana grabs his hand and hinders him as she tells her contractor to run.

Ahid meets Anos again after the Demon King discovers the Underground World. Since he is on his way to Everastanzetta, Institute of the Gods, he tells Anos about it so he can learn about the Selection Trial. After learning the basics, Anos heads to the library despite Ahid's warning that other candidates might attack him. Fortunately for him, Anos defeats the Saint Gazel Apt Ageila and his summoned gods, allowing Ahid to take their orders for Arcana. He then leaves after granting Gazel "salvation", stating the gods haven't asked him to deal with Anos yet.

After his plan to invade Azesion is discovered, Ahid is confronted by Anos at Everastanzetta. He pretends to receive a divine message, but Anos exposes him by asking if it was the gods who protected the cities of Gairadite, Veroniez, and Nadelonica during the Great War. The cardinal confirms it even though two of the cities were completely destroyed, causing him to thread more carefully with his words. Ahid eventually reveals his real plan— to invade Midhaze while Anos and his subordinates are in Azesion— but Anos was already informed of this by the Royalists and had the Demon King Army intercept them. Ahid calms himself before revealing that Arcana was also there.

Unfortunately for him, Arcana is stopped by Shin due to Altiertonoa still being incomplete, and she is forced to escape with Gneodoros still embedded in her stomach. She teleports to Gairadite, where she retrieves Evansmana from the Royal Dragon. With all the pieces in order, Ahid uses Altiertonoa to reconstruct his body so he can withstand Arcana's divine possession. Even with this newly obtained power, he is unable to defeat Anos, so Arcana fuses Evansmana, Gnedoros, and Altiertonoa into Leviangilma, the Sword of the Almighty. The divine sword grants Ahid invulnerability, and the only way to bypass this is by using Leviangilma itself to slash him three times. However, should someone draw the divine sword from its sheath, their source will be destroyed across all of time.

Neither the cardinal nor Anos can injure each other, but Ahid eventually manages to get near Anos and yank out his source. However, it was an illusion, and the thing he pulled out was Leviangilma from its sheath. Ahid panics due to his impending death and vomits, but this is another one of Anos' illusions. The real sword is still in Anos' hands, who plans to use it as intended. With the spell Veneziara, Anos realizes all possibilities, so the sword is both drawn and not at the same time. He slashes Ahid and severs his divine possession without being destroyed because the sword is not drawn. However, the cardinal argues that if the sword is not drawn, then he should've been unharmed, but Anos simply replies that the logic of a mortal wouldn't apply to an almighty one.

After losing his invulnerability, Anos places Ahid under the effects of Nedneliaz. In the dream, he will be forced to go against his faith and preach that the Almighty Radiance doesn't exist over and over again, or he won't wake up. After talking to Arcana, Anos takes Ahid out of the dream so he can hear Arcana's true feelings, as she made a mistake in choosing him. Ahid laughs, thinking he is still in the dream, and reveals he never had faith in the first place, and it was all an act. He then teleports away, presumably to spread heresy in Jiordal, unaware he is back in the real world. And this is Anos' real punishment for him.

Abilities[]

  • Divine Body (Formerly): In order to withstand divine possession and obtain Arcana's abilities, Ahid used the Moon of Creation to reconstruct his body. This allowed him to gain the goddess's abilities without the possibility of dying, though he could still be injured by sufficiently powerful spells.[7]
    • Immortality: With Leviangilma's protection, Ahid entered a state of permeance where he couldn't be destroyed by any means, and spells had no effects on him. In addition, any wounds he received before were erased as if they never happened in the first place. To bypass this, one had to unsheath Leviangilma and slash Ahid three times.[7]
    • Immense Magic Power: Due to the possession, Ahid received Arcana's vast magic power. With this, he was able to summon enough lunar snowdrops to cover the entirety of Gaelahesta.[7]
  • Borrowed Powers: By invoking Azept, he was able to possess the power of his Selection God, gaining access to the orders that she possesses or the power of dragons to increase his own abilities.
    • Altiertonoa, the Moon of Creation (Formerly):
      Ahid freezes a meteor

      Ahid uses Altiertonoa's power.

He gains the ability to use Altiertonoa, the divine order of creation, which Arcana can use. With it, he gains various powers, such as the ability create lunar snowdrops or freeze anything he desires.
    • Order of Light (Formerly): It grants the user power over the phenomenon of light, allowing them to transform into light itself and move at light speed or attack the enemy directly with it.[7]
    • Order of Piercing (Formerly): It turns regular weapons into divine spears, which appear like sharp dragon fangs, possessing colossal piercing power.
    • Order of Restoration (Formerly): It gives the user power over the phenomenon of restoration, allowing them to heal living beings and restore non-living things.
    • Vista: By infusing the power of this dragon into themselves, the user gains its ability to hide their presence from enemies, which can be very useful in reconnaissance or surprise attacks.
    • Deiro: By infusing the power of this dragon into themselves, the user gains increased strength and is also granted the ability to breathe scorching flames.
    • Supreme Dragon: By infusing the power of this dragon into himself, Ahid gained increased physical capabilities and the ability to devour the orders of gods, which he demonstrated by biting Arcana to drain the Order of Balance from her. Due to his deal with Ceris Voldigoad, Ahid's variation of the Supreme Dragon was imbued with the purple lightning power of the latter, allow it to project it as a means of attack.

Relationships[]

Arcana[]

The Selection God that chose Ahid for the Selection Trial, as she was a kind goddess who was willing to bet on the most irredeemable of people.[8] Because she was bound to Ahid by the pact, Arcana was forced to hurt people against her wishes.[9] After trampling over her feelings, Ahid would ask for forgiveness to maintain his image of a man subordinate to the gods.

However, after they were defeated by Anos, Arcana opened her eyes and accepted that choosing Ahid was a mistake. Ahid, in response, revealed that he never trusted the gods in the first place and only used her for his own convenience.[4]

Gazel Apt Ageila[]

Despite being a fellow citizen of Jiordal and also a follower of the Almighty Radiance, Ahid coldly disposed of him after he served his purpose. He appeared before the defeated Gazel and forcibly took his Selection Pledge Jewel under the excuse of following a "divine message". Ahid is questioned by Gazel, but he abuses his position as cardinal to excommunicate the holy knight, causing a remorseful Gazel to beg for forgiveness. Ahid grants his request by killing him and returning him to the heavens. Afterward, he asks Arcana for forgiveness, as he took a precious life.[8]

Zamira Engelo[]

Ahid and Zamira cooperated with each other due to each of their individual goals aligning with each other, as Zamira introduced Ahid to king Lycius, hoping that the king's involvement with cardinal's plot would bring him closer to the throne by having the king and the rest of the royal family murdered. But Ahid never truly trusted Zamira, as he secretly recorded their negotiations with the intent to blackmail him at a later time.

Lycius Engelo Gairadite[]

Ahid was able to indoctrinate the king into zealously worshipping the gods by exploiting the fact that the king felt betrayed by Hero Kanon choosing to reincarnate as a demon and not returning to Azesion, viewing it as him abandoning the humans. By feeding into the king's desire for eternal life and regal power, he was able to convince him to sacrifice his own people to the Royal Dragon, where they would be reincarnated as draconids, the people of the gods. He coordinated with the king so they could steal Evansmana by luring Hero Kanon into a trap.

Anos Voldigoad[]

At some point in time, Ahid became aware that Anos was chosen to participate in the Selection Trial. Seeing him as a obstacle for his own goal of ascending as the divine proxy, he schemed to have him eliminated, by covertly helping the royalist resistance and corrupting the human king to create chaos in Azesion, which Anos would be forced to deal with.

The two would eventually come to blows and fight after Ahid possessed the power of his Selection God Arcana, but the cardinal proved no match for the Demon King, as Anos defeated him and trapped him in a nightmare that he could only awake from after rejecting the gods a thousand times. Ahid managed to succeed but thought that he was still trapped in a nightmare after Arcana renounced their pact, revealing his true character, as he stated that he didn't believe in the gods and was merely exploiting them for their power. Ahid fled to try to expose the "truth" about Equis' non-existence in hopes of awakening from his nightmare.
